"I learned so much." - Mom
A is Not for Apple
Learn your A-B-C's all over again with this hilarious, illustrated alphabet book: A bawdy, Shel-Silverstein-inspired "Dr. Seuss" for adults. From writer Jordan Rawlins (Rescue Dogs, Monsters of the Apocalypse) and visual artist F.C. Brandt (Hidden Figures, Dance Voldo Dance) comes this adult primer of perversions. Each letter is brought to life with rhyming ribald verse, and embellished with titillating cartoon art. This is not hardcore pornography. The sexual content of this book is "female friendly erotica". Every effort has been made to keep this firmly within an "R" rating.
The writing, illustration, and layout are complete. We just need your support to get it out of the computer and into your mitts. This book was created to be held in hands and displayed on coffee tables...though more timid and proper folks may want to keep it under their mattress, and read it with a flash light under the covers (or hide the PDF in a folder labeled "List of Things to Do").
Inside the Book...
Your host and narrator is Beardo McWeirdo, a wise and wizardly guru, light-heartedly guiding you through the bizarre, and sometimes dark, corridors of human sexual proclivities. The images displayed here are just a hint of the visual feast that awaits your eyes; cropped glimpses into the salacious scenes that grace the inner pages. Your preconceptions will be challenged. Your morality will be accosted (please read the FAQ first!). One thing is for certain: After reading this book, with every new person you meet, you will wonder "are they into P, Q, R, S, or T???"
E is for Erotica is complete and ready to be printed, and meeting our goal will pay a portion of our printing and distribution costs. It will be hardcover, 46 pages (43 pgs of verse and images), and c. 8.375" x 11" in size. The first print run will be limited to 2,000 copies.
The books have official UPC codes for ISBN - 978-0-692-13205-0.
This book will be available by July 17th and begin shipping August 1st (or earlier). The delivery dates listed for all of the rewards are the latest anyone should expect their reward to arrive. In any event, all supporters at $21 or above can count on receiving their book(s) in time for Christmas 2018.
This Is Us
Jordan Rawlins and I (F.C.) met while we were both volunteering for a local children's literacy program, where he approached me with the concept for E is for Erotica. His first draft tickled the deepest recesses of my soul, and I was hooked. I knew immediately that I wanted to illustrate it with a friendly and unassuming cartoon style, to highlight the fact that the subject is meant to be fun (even if sometimes disturbing).
Over the course of two years we carefully crafted and honed every aspect of the text and illustrations. Every representative word was carefully considered, and every rhyme scheme hammered into razor-sharp witticism. Not a single detail was spared in the drawings, each carefully structured to stay on the R-rated side of the line that separates erotica from pornography.
After the black and white line art was completed, my day job started taking up more of my time. To complete the coloring of the artwork more quickly, we enlisted my own mother (a trained and talented painter, herself). She had to close her eyes while coloring some of the more risqué scenarios, but she says she learned a lot, and her sense of decency is in recovery.
We invite you to join us (and Beardo McWeirdo) on this provocative journey from A to Z.
Risks and challenges
The only two risks and challenges to this project are those that every Kickstarter project faces:
1. SUCCESSFUL FUNDING - We need to sell 300 books in 30 days...easy, right? :-)
2. DELIVERY - Third party printing and shipping problems can occur, but otherwise you can count on U.S. delivery of your book(s) before Christmas 2018 (except as noted above under the "delivery" heading).Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
