Chris Huelsbeck presents the Turrican Soundtrack Anthology project and fundraiser!
The back story:
It’s been almost 20 years since I released the acclaimed Turrican Soundtrack Album and I have been thinking about a worthy follow-up for quite some time now. I would love to create an awesome and extensive new edition, with all new recordings, but I can’t do it without your support! Creating and producing any new album and especially one of this magnitude is a very time consuming and budget-hungry matter--but counting on you and all my other fans out there, it can be made possible!
Details about the project:
I’d like to create a Turrican Soundtrack Anthology Limited Edition Box Set, with nearly all of the music from the Turrican Series of Games. At least 3 CDs will contain these brand new, pristine studio recordings. Even music pieces that were featured on the 1993 Turrican Soundtrack CD will be newly recorded and arranged to update their sound. Highlights will include for the first time: the whole 'Turrican 2 Title', 'Credits' (all versions), 'Metal Stars', 'Tower of Morgul', 'Unidirectional Flight', 'Concerto for Laser and Enemies' and 'Hall of Heroes' - all as full length recordings/arrangements.
Some special compositions (including the 'T2 Title', 'The Great Bath' and 'Concerto for Laser and Enemies') will be recorded as a new arrangement with live Symphonic Orchestra for an additional bonus. The WDR Radio Orchestra & WDR Radio Choir have an exciting new game music concert scheduled for November 16, 2012 in Cologne, that will feature these pieces (this event is not depending on the success of this campaign and will happen in either case). Btw: This is the same orchestra and recording facility that made the acclaimed Symphonic Shades concerts and album possible, and the recordings will be edited & mixed separately from the live concert, so the quality will be exceptional.
The Limited Edition Box Set:
The final product will be a gorgeously packaged true limited edition Box Set, numbered by the manufacturing plant, and personally signed by me. The set will never be produced in this form again after the project is completed!
Also planned is exciting new artwork for the Box Set, cover, and inside booklet as well as a new large poster. Here’s a preview demo of what it "could" look like (thanks to Halil Ural, who created this fan art and gave me permission to use it for the preview), but new artwork will be specifically created for this project:
So how do we exactly make this all happen?
I made a complete calculation for the budget that includes my work time in the studio (6+ months), orchestra recordings, CD manufacturing, shipping, art prints and other items and we would need to raise at least $75k. If we reach this goal, the project can and will be produced--including the 3+ CD Limited Edition Box Set, new artwork, as well as some special goodies/rewards for supporters who want to donate even more to the project. If we don’t reach this goal, then nobody will have to pay anything and the project cannot happen. However, I believe that this level is attainable: we would need about 1500 supporters who are willing to reserve an awesome 3+ CD Limited Edition Box Set and for a $50 (about 38 Euro) pledge! On a side note: nearly 10,000 people own the original Turrican Soundtrack CD, so we know that there are enough fans out there. You can also further help to make this happen by spreading the word about this project and make this a viral campaign!
What if we go even higher?
If we get even more supporters and a higher budget, I will add more live orchestra recordings and more music (and expand the Box Set with an additional CD for more tracks). I also have really exciting extra perks for the pledge levels above $50, check them out!
Keep in mind, you have absolutely nothing to lose if you pledge and we don’t reach our goal. But if we do succeed, you’ll know that this project can and will be made and that it will be an incredible and epic follow-up for the original Turrican Soundtrack for its 20th anniversary!

We will be shipping from Germany, so if you order from another country, you "may" be responsible for possible import duty or taxes for receiving the package of the Album and other goodies. But the shipping and invoice value will be only for covering the cost of manufacturing of the items, not your full pledge amount, so we don't expect major problems for you.
