About this project
I would like to publish a coffee table style book highlighting 24 hours of Eldorado Canyon. Eldorado Canyon is located in the heart of rock climbing country - Boulder, Colorado. This Canyon is one of the world's finest and most famous climbing areas in the US. This state park consists of steep, beautiful conglomerate sandstone walls up to 700 feet high, in brilliant shades of gold and red. The goal of this book is to bring to readers eyes a view of numerous aspects of the park over a 24 hour period. Each chapter will highlight a single hour and bring to the reader what is seen at various sites throughout the park - for example: chapter one 5:00AM - 5:59AM. Since climbing and the outdoors are a passion of mine, the book is going to have large focus on both climbers and the landscape. Photographing the entire park in a single 24 hours cycle would pose a huge technical challenge and weather conditions may fail to bring forth the spectacular nature of some of the parks features so the photography will be spread out over several weeks. Four to six local photographers who have intimate knowledge of the canyon will be used to bring out individual creativity and personal perspectives on the park. Each photographer will follow a basic set of shoot parameters but essentially will be open to shoot in their own particular style. The aims of this project are to bring lesser know parts of the park to frequent visitors eyes, to bring the beauty of the park to potential visitors and to provoke a sense of ownership and preservation among the parks users.
Where will the money go: Your generous donation will go to bringing this book to life. Equipment, publishing and printing are expensive. Money in excess of publication cost will be donated to park conservation efforts. Every little bit helps.
