The Chip Theory Experience
NOT IN RETAIL: Games made with a focus on distribution are beholden to a large number of restrictions, both in gameplay and components. By eschewing the traditional retail model and offering our games only through Kickstarter, our website and conventions, we are free to think outside the box with every aspect of our games. This also guarantees that your game will hold its value and, very likely, increase in value as a result of our smaller print runs that often go out of stock.
KICKSTARTER EXCLUSIVE PRICING: This is the cheapest you will ever see Cloudspire for sale from us. It won’t show up on Cool Stuff or Amazon for 30% cheaper a few weeks after (or even before) official release. Cloudspire will sell direct from our website after the campaign for $130 and will never be put on sale at a discount.
BACKER AND CUSTOMER FOCUSED: We take transparency, communication, and our relationship with backers with the utmost seriousness. We post frequent and extensive updates covering every aspect of the project. After your games arrive, we offer industry-leading customer service with a commitment to making you a lifelong fan.
PREMIUM COMPONENTS: We believe tabletop gaming is at its best when gameplay and component quality work together in unison. We settle for nothing less than the best in both quality and functionality. Neoprene mats, heavy chips, PVC waterproof cards and well designed future thinking inserts are hallmarks of our games.
QUALITY BEFORE PROFITS: Yes, we do seek and hope to make a profit on our products, however our focus is always on quality first. If this means adding content beyond what was promised in the campaign, we add it. If this means improving a component despite shaving our margins, we improve it. We’re out to make the best possible game period, whatever it costs.
WHO CARES? WE DO: We’re a small growing operation, and we’re not afraid to put ourselves on the line for our customers and our projects. Because we both design and publish our own games, we have the flexibility to make big decisions overnight. When we make mistakes (it happens) we’re agile enough to fix them. We are not some large corporate entity, we’re a handful of gamers making the kinds of games we wish other publishers would make. That genuine care for our product and company, we believe, sets us apart.

Risks and challenges
This is our eighth Kickstarter, and we feel pretty good about our delivery and rate of success at this point. The biggest risks with any Chip Theory Games title are unexpected delays. Be it for continued development, improvement of final production copies, or extended fulfillment timelines due to weight and SKU quantity, delays can and do happen in board game development.
With that said, we have established a reputation for industry-best communication and transparency with our backers. We post updates at least monthly and typically send updates even more frequently than that. When you back a Chip Theory Kickstarter, we guarantee you’ll receive a high quality product at the conclusion of the campaign and know exactly where things stand every step of the way.
