Spotlight #3: The Talented Units of Cloudspire

Greetings all! 

We're back from Essen and ready to rumble for the final eight days of this campaign. Know that we're absolutely committed to bringing you as many Spotlights as we can as this thing draws to a close. It may be a lofty goal, but we'd like to have one for you every business day, with only a small break for the weekend. While we can't 100% promise our exhausted jet lagged bodies will go along with our best laid plans, we fully expect to be able to hit this mark.

Today, we wanted to give you a look at the unit Talents for one faction you've seen, and one you have not. Tomorrow, we'll do the same for the heirs and the grovetenders. Friday, we'll be giving you an in depth look at heroes and their upgrade system, a piece of the game that up to this point we've only really hinted at. In between all of these Spotlights, we'll absolutely be re-filming some gameplay videos to replace the ones we showed from Essen. We'll be placing a much higher emphasis on making sure we get all the rules right, which should be easier to do without house music blaring in the background and some semblance of a full night's sleep ;-)

If we're able to do more of these between filming fresh gameplay videos and writing updates, we will absolutely do so. If these are helpful to you, please also mention it in the comments. They're easy to do, but they do eat up time from our work day, so we want to make sure they're actually watched and appreciated. :-)

Ankar's Got Talent

So with the intros out of the way, we wanted to give you the full rundown of both brawnen and narora units. While we debated the best way to do this, from another video, to long text descriptions, ultimately we decided to break both factions down into a table that's easy to read and look at. Know that artwork for some units is still either in process or just not quite done yet. With the heirs and the grovetenders on taproot for tomorrow (sorry, grovetender joke, will make more sense tomorrow), we're trying to get at least basic art done for every unit so it can be placed on a chip. 

Speaking of chips, we are hoping to have some exciting things to show soon related to final chip designs for the game. Stay tuned. 

Anyway, TALENTS! The chart below will not only show you the various talents of these two factions, but also basic strategy behind each unit, as well as their Command Point cost, HP, Source given when defeated, move speed, attack, and terrain they can traverse. The two different numbers for their stats represents their basic vs. upgraded or secondary side. Again, absent from these charts are the heroes, who have their own unique talents that often have direct synergies with standard units. For example, the brawnen hero Kram has "Command," which temporarily removes Unruly from Forsaken units. 

Every faction has their own flavor, and these charts should start to give you a great idea of how uniquely these two factions play.

Specifically as it relates to the narora, they operate on a polarity system. Unlike the other factions that offer ways to upgrade to a more powerful side of their chip, the narora have the choice of deploying on their light or dark side. More than any other faction, they rely on smart use of their Talents and very careful positioning to succeed. We'll have gameplay with both the narora and the grovetenders very very #soon so you can see how fun they are to use.

Our video table is setup. Tomorrow we'll be finalizing these charts for the remaining two base factions and filming whatever we can. So much more to share! We definitely want to see if we can show a 3-4 player game for you as soon as we lift the curtain on the grovetenders and narora. 

Thanks for all your support, we know how many other projects are out there right now, and we're so thankful for not only your support, but for sticking with us through this last week while we were at Essen and it was tough to send frequent updates. We'll see you tomorrow for another Spotlight!

      For the Medium/Conduit should it say "can NOW control this unit" instead of "can NOT control this unit" ?

      Thanks for the summary of these units. Some interesting abilities. Can't wait to see the others. I enjoyed the LiveStream yesterday. Found it informative and thought it did a good job of answering some of the questions people had over the previous several days. Looking forward to more updates.

      please learn from TMB. DONT put lore and flavor text in reference sheets.
      reference sheet ONLY job is a QUICK access to the infi you need to keep the fame flowing and fun.

      you guys needed to redo the sheets of tmb, we (all) got the upgraded package.

      no sure if i would remove or leave the description of abilities. BUT considering they seem to be relative common ( range x2; splash, adjust... ) i would be incline to removing it and just have a separate sheet (1-2 copies) with definition; after a couple of play you would remember what is what and just need to see what has what on a quick glaze

      PLEASE PLEASE hear us on this.
