Hello. We're the guys behind the Children's Vampire Hunting Brigade. That's me, David Lucarelli, the writer, on the left, and artists Christopher Matteson, and Henry Ponciano to my right and my further right respectively. Here's the cover:
I got the idea for this mini-series when I read about a real life incident in Glasgow Scotland in which up to 400 kids descended upon the Southern Necropolis cemetery over several nights, some armed with steak knives and pitchforks looking for a vampire with iron teeth they thought had killed a couple of local children. People look upon it now as an incident of mass hysteria. At the time they blamed it on comic books!
So in our comic book, some of the children find what they were looking for and form The Children's Vampire Hunting Brigade. Flash forward to today, Gavin and Doug are two juvenile delinquents who are drinking in the graveyard the night the vampires come back, and unwittingly get caught up in becoming the newest members of the brigade. Here's Gavin and Doug:
Joe Doughrity, writer/director of Akira's Hip Hop Shop and Cornerstore had this to say: "An enthralling read from beginning to end. Buffy meets S.E. Hinton's The Outsiders." Here's the first 3 pages of issue #1:

Risks and challenges
All four issues of the miniseries are written, illustrated, lettered and ready to go! But, I'm also a big believer in Murphy's law. I've done my best to leave generous amounts of time when calculating final delivery of the comic and all it's various rewards. That said, it's always the silent bullet that gets you. The printing press that breaks down, the package that gets held up in customs, etc. Things beyond our control. However, having said that, I'm a big practitioner of the DIY school of getting it done. I've successfully produced 3 independent CDs and 1 DVD for my rock band Dame Fortune over the past 10 years. I am like Daffy Duck. Come hell or high water, I will get that serum through!
I've poured my heart and soul into "The Children's Vampire Hunting Brigade," and while some may see it as a sometimes scary, sometimes thrilling adventure story, I think it also serves to comment about the plight of young people in today's society looking to find their place in this oftentimes unfriendly world. I can't wait to share my story with you, and I look forward to telling more stories about The Brigade!
As for our first stretch goal, if we exceed our goal we will send every contributor a special colorized digital copy of issue #1.
One final note: Just because the title of the comic has the word children in it, this is not a comic that would be appropriate for very small children. It features graphic violence sometimes directed towards children, underage drinking, and teenage characters frankly talking about sex and sexuality. If it were a movie, it would be rated PG-13. You know your children, and what they can handle. Please order accordingly.
