You're an average, unassuming Chicago citizen going about your day at the park, in the office, at the club, on the couch, etc... and then you receive a simple message that forever alters your priorities (that, plus you happen to be a professional dancer). This is the premise behind the project we're asking you to help us realize as we move into the post production phase after having finished preliminary shooting on location throughout the city. Please take a look at the interview above of director Corey Gilbert and choreographer Jessica Deahr as they discuss inspiration, camera gizmos, flips and tricks, and how to tell a semi-linear dance story without coming off too elitist.
P3 Mediaworks & Chicago Dance Crash were, ironically enough, both founded in 2002 and both developed professional careers in boundary-breaking starting in Chi and then expanding to the Midwest and now to national recognition.
If you've watched television anytime in the last 5 years you've seen P3's handiwork in plenty of commercials. As it relates to this project and their storytelling capabilities, check out Black & check out Convergence just to name a few.
If you've been to a public arts or entertainment event in Chicago in the last 5 years you've seen Crash's handiwork in plenty of dance concerts, hip hop battles, fashion shows, and branding campaigns. As it relates to this project and their "pop art" capabilities, check out End of Line & check out Cotton Mouth Club just to name a few.
But in terms of specific persons, our squad is strong...
You have been part of the plan all along since we first conceived this project 2 years ago. Every calendar year, Crash debuts a Season of live productions paid for with grants, separate gig revenue, and ticket sales. In 2015, the formula was turned on its head as we SKIPPED our summer show and instead spent our studio time, money and resources to choreograph and shoot the presented film alongside P3. So far so good BUT in order to take this from a hard drive to your screen we NEED YOUR SUPPORT to allow us to finish all of the vital post production aspects including editing, color correction & color grading, sound design, music composition and a whole lot more. If we go over, funds will allow us to go BEYOND our current plan as well as pay for festival fees and other nonfree ways of getting this film to various audiences. Currently, "This Way Comes" is nothing more than several hours of video and a gameplan. It's your investment in this project, P3 & Crash, and the "dance on film" genre that will truly make this project sing and send it all across the planet.
It's all about being the FIRST to see this thing come to life! Down the road, after the premieres and festival circuits, ALL funders of ALL amounts will be contacted the moment "This Way Comes" is put out on the web for easy, free consumption. But much sooner than that, rewards revolve around the ways we can credit you and get you personally to the ultra swanky, ultra fun world premier in Chicago!
June 17th, 2016 Chicago Dance Crash will hold an extreme version of our annual Season announcement party, The Black, White, & Red Ball. Catering, open bar, giveaways, DJ, live performances & announcements and all are dressed "rockstar formal" in our company colors. The night will be highlighted by the viewing of this project in its entirety. What's more, meet and hangout with Jess, Corey, the dancers and everyone involved in this crazy thing.
HEY CURRENT CRASH PATRONS, PLANNING ON BUYING YOUR #BlackWhiteRed2016 TICKETS ANYWAYS? JUST MAKE THE APPROPRIATE PLEDGE VIA THIS KICKSTARTER AS A DISCOUNTED WAY TO ATTEND WHILE HELPING US REACH OUR GOAL!

Risks and challenges
Since the team has been assigned and the footage has already been shot, there's (honestly) very little risk involved in this project! The film his being created by two organizations with over 20 years experience in professional dance & film making. The talent is there. The drive is high. The plan is tight. We just need YOU!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
