About this project
Introducing Chibi Pet Solar Light, Chibi Pet Lunar Glow, and Chibi Pet Time Rip
Chibi Pet Solar Light, Chibi Pet Lunar Glow, and Chibi Pet Time Rip are virtual pet simulators for your mobile device. Think of a Tamagotchi but then add the best role-playing elements from games like Pokémon, Final Fantasy, and more. They are the sequels and upgrades to Chibi Pet Sugar http://itunes.com/apps/chibipethd, Chibi Pet Spice http://itunes.com/apps/chibipet, and Chibi Pet Snips (coming soon) for iOS.
Chibi Pet Solar Light and Chibi Pet Lunar Glow are about an accident causing the Chibi Pet world to split into two dimensions. One dimension there is a solar eclipse, the other a lunar eclipse. This causes the Chibi Pets to evolve into different forms and have different abilities. Chibi Pet Time Rip is about how the accident in the other games effects the Meanie Pet world. Meanie Pets are cute but rude, weird, and creepy counter parts to Chibi Pets who were created by a mad scientist. Although their world isn't directly connect to that of the Chibi Pets, they are connected by being parallel dimensions so it is possible that such a drastic change in one world can effect the other.
Please see our Game Design Doc for story highlights and character bios.
Raising Your Pet
You'll adopt a Chibi Pet (or Meanie Pet) and help them gain experience through feeding, playing, sparring, and socializing. Once they gain enough experience they will transform into a new, stronger pet!
Time to Battle!
Chibi Pet Solar Light, Chibi Pet Lunar Glow, and Chibi Pet Time Rip will allow you and your friend to spar and battle over a local wi-fi network, or even bluetooth! You'll be able to show off how well you have raised your Chibi Pet using leaderboards, achievements, and challenges. There will also be "Random Monster Battles", so while your Chibi Pet is exploring their world they will be able to spar with a computer controlled Chibi Pet. Get access to the battle system beta backing for $5 or more!
Raising a Chibi Pet can take some time, but we wanted each experience to be as diverse as possible. For this game we've conceptualized over 60 different pets and are planning over 100, some only available in Chibi Pet Solar Light, some only available in Chibi Pet Lunar Glow, and all unique to Chibi Pet Time Rip. Some Chibi Pet's will have special elemental powers and some will have mystical powers and legendary stories.
I'll trade you for that one.
Chibi Pet Solar Light, Chibi Pet Lunar Glow, and Chibi Pet Time Rip will introduce an intuitive and fun trading cards system. While your Chibi Pet is exploring their environment or wins a "Random Monster Battle" they will find different trading cards. When you collect a set of training cards your Chibi Pet will be rewarded with new items or new moves. If you have excess trading cards you can trade them with a friend over a local Wi-Fi/bluetooth connection or you can trade them into the Research Store for Chibi Points, the games in-app currency. You can then use Chibi Points to buy upgrades to customize your Chibi Pet's world.
New Original Art and Story
If we get the funding we will hire Kat Lo, an amazing artist that worked on Zynga's and Atari's Super Bunny Breakout. Her art is super cute and will take Chibi Pet 3.0 to the next level. The funding would allow us to hire Kat for all 6 months and to allow the Lead Programmer, Adam Cipoletti, to work solely on the programming for Chibi Pet Solar Light, Chibi Pet Lunar Glow, and Chibi Pet Time Rip. We could also hire Jason Cohen to help finalize the story he helped develop for this Kickstarter Project as well as hire a marketing assistant, Sara Finneran, to help make sure as many people know about Chibi Pet as possible. Check out our Game Design Document to learn more.
The only (virtual) pet you'll need.
We think Chibi Pet is the only virtual pet you'll need on your mobile device, between the games, responsibilities, sparring, and social integration. Please help us to make Chibi Pet Solar Light, Chibi Pet Lunar Glow, and Chibi Pet Time Rip a reality for not only iOS, but if we get our funding we will port it over to Android, Windows Phone, and even Blackberry 10!
Rewards for you!
Just a $5 donation will get you beta access to the battle system. Once the project gets funded I'll start immediate work on updating all the current Chibi Pet games with the battle system described and I'll give all the $5+ backers a password that will let them start battling and starring their Chibi Pets. And this isn't just local multiplayer battle, I'll put in computer battles too, that way you can battle throughout the day to raise your Chibi Pet's experience. See an example of battling in our intro video here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uubwCrSipLM

Risks and challenges
The real risks and challenges are the funding itself. We have hired an amazing group of people and look forward to working with them. Everyone will sign employment contracts that will keep them on the job for at least 6 months. If we get into any sort of delays we do have backup funds to hire one more programmer if necessary, also Adam Cipoletti, the lead programmer is a designer as well and can take on some of the artwork if we fall behind schedule. We have clearly worked out the budget so that we are funded for the full six months and have the schedule broken down into detail. We have even added a $5,000 stretch budget to guarantee we can get access to qualified and talented interns if we fall behind schedule. If we happened to go over the budget we will look for second rounds of funding, but as of now we don't believe that will be necessary.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
