In Ingrid's green and pleasant hands....
Raising £12,000 for Cherry Cake
Starring Olivier-award winning actor Matthew Kelly (Of Mice and Men, Stars in Their Eyes, You Bet!) and West End veteran Eve Pearce (Mike Leigh's Topsy-Turvy, Les liaisons dangereuses), Cherry Cake is a quintessentially English short film. Set in the heart of rural England this wry film takes a peek over the garden gate of a picture-perfect country cottage into a brief moment in the life of angelic 86-year old Ingrid. Whatever your reaction to this surprising and quirky film, you will never look at your grandmother in the same light again.
Award winning film maker Jaine Green has been exploring issues faced by women around the world for 15 years, often tackling taboo subjects with a sense of humour. Jaine now turns her hand to drama, writing and directing Cherry Cake, a short film that does not shy away from controversy.
Independent funding has already enabled Cherry Cake to be produced, filmed and edited to the highest quality, whilst on a tight budget. With the extraordinary help of an experienced professional crew, production team and two well-known actors, who believed so totally in the importance and ethos of this project that they all gave their time and services for little more than expenses, Cherry Cake is a film truly born out of love.
The immediate £8,000 we need will pay for post production (conform, picture grading and sound) commercial music clearance and all deliverables. Any additional funds (an extra £4,000 is required) will go towards marketing and the cost of festival entry fees.
Beautifully shot on the ARRI Alexa and Red Epic, Cherry Cake has a chocolate box quality that gently pulls you into the most perfect lazy summer day, but don't get too comfortable, it will leave you with plenty to think about!
The tireless dedication of the entire Cherry Cake team has gifted this short film with high production values so that it punches well above its weight ensuring it stands shoulder to shoulder with films of a much higher budget. Cherry Cake is intended for major global film festivals to prove that smaller budgets don't mean smaller production values and to challenge our perceptions of what it is to be elderly. It is the first production of Green Finger Films, a new film company started with the goal of creating leading roles for women in independent films, both on and off camera.
37 people have believed enough in Cherry Cake to bring it this far. Please please have a little faith and take it the rest of the way.
Or just do it for your grandma!
Risks and challenges
As the film has already been shot, the only risk left is that we don't raise enough money to finish post production and pay for the music to broadcast at festivals.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
