35 Dyepot Weekly Episodes!

You guys are amazing! Since the Dyepot Weekly Kickstarter Campaign hit $2500 I will now commit to 35 Dyepot Weekly Episodes! I still hope that this will be just the beginning, but I am so excited to go on this journey. I know that we will all learn a lot and create some really beautiful colors along the way.

Right after I publish this update I will release some new sponsorship levels! 1 Spin Into Gold, 2 Gold, 3 Silver and 4 Bronze. The Spin into Gold level has been sold out since day 1, so I’m really excited to offer one more of this fun experience.

Sock Blank Special

We crushed through the first 4 stretch goals. What’s next? If we hit $3000, we will unlock the Sock Blank Special! This will unlock a LIVE Sock Blank Special, a new reward AND an add-on.

A sock blank is a pre-knit tube made out of sock yarn. (I use homemade “worsted blanks” in some of my videos.) Since the length of the skein is shorter, you can easily create stripes, gradients, and other fun designs. The sock blanks I plan to use are made out of 75% superwash merino wool and 25% nylon fingering weight sock yarn. The sock blanks are double stranded, so you can create an identical pair of socks two at a time knitting directly from the sock blank or you can unravel the blank into two identical 50 g skeins of yarn.

Backers who select the Sock Blank Special Reward ($49) will get a CUSTOM hand dyed 100 g sock blank of yarn (2 - 50 g balls). You pick the colors and whether you want a random pattern, a gradient, stripes, or a surprise. I will wind the sock blank into two 50 g balls of yarn, unless you prefer to have me send you the dyed blank so you can watch it transform into some two-at-a-time socks or mittens as you knit or crochet. (Please note that “Stripes” might have some blending between rows, they won’t be clean, distinct stripes.)

Will the dyeing be featured in some videos? YES! I will do a LIVE Sock Blank Special where I hand paint some sock blanks, even if no one selects a sock blank reward. Other blanks might be featured in other bonus videos, but all will be filmed.  You don't get any sponsorship credit with this reward level, but you will get shout outs in the Thank You Video.

What about the add on? If the Dyepot Weekly campaign hits $3000, Bronze and Silver Sponsors can add $10 to their pledge to upgrade their yarn base to a two strand sock blank! I will wind your sock blank into two identical 50 g balls of yarn or send you the knit blank so you can unravel it yourself.   (Gold Sponsors can already choose sock blanks so don't need to add to their pledge.)

Rewards Timeline

Please pay attention to the “Estimated Delivery” dates on your reward selection. I will ship all physical rewards together in one package.  I hope to ship all December 2017 rewards before the beginning of Chanukkah on December 12. All backers in the US should receive these rewards before Christmas. While I can guarantee that I will ship the rewards in early December, I can’t guarantee that they international backers will receive them in time for Christmas. (I will do my very best to get them out in time! I just don’t really know how long international shipping takes.)

Most Sponsors will receive their rewards in early 2018 because the yarn itself won’t be dyed until I film you video. When I have the episode list set I’ll send you the approximate date of when your video will come out.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Shopping

I found a dye pot for Dyepot Weekly! She is still in her box. I think that I will pull her out to use the first time when I start filming sponsored videos. I am also starting to order some dyes that aren’t food coloring. I picked up some Rit Liquid dyes and plan to place an order for some Jacquard Acid dyes shortly. I heard that some of the Dharma acid dyes break really nicely, so I will likely pick up some of those, too. I’m still on the hunt for some bottles to store stock solutions, so if you have any recommendations please let me know.
