As I prepare to record a new album, I'm going through piles of songs that I've written. Here's a live recording of a song that I wrote for my wife, Lauren. I got the title from the inscription that I'd had engraved inside Lauren's wedding band. That's what inspired me to write the song. Who knows, maybe this one will end up on my new record.

I can't thank you enough for making this happen for me. Let's make our goal so I can make this album!
Video Update #1 - We're HALF WAY THERE!
My last album, Lifted Off The Ground was released 2010. It was also the year that my memoir Like Me was released and the year that I came out of the closet. So much has happened since then.
I got legally married in 2011 and in 2013, my wife Lauren and I doubled the size of our family by having identical twin boys—Everett and George. They’re fifteen months old and doing great.
Hopefully, you viewed the video above in which I share what I’ve got planned for the rest of 2014 and 2015.
I’ve been writing a lot of songs in the past few years and I'm ready to start recording my next album. I need your help.
We’re officially kicking off my Kickstarter Campaign. I will make a record in the same way I’ve always made records—using the best musicians, the best engineers and recording in the best studios available. The only difference this time around is that we are choosing to harness the “power of the people” to fund my album.
For my past couple of releases, the budget for simply producing and manufacturing my records has been around $200,000. And then, the record label invests hundreds of thousands more in marketing and promotion. When I was on major labels, these dollar amounts were nearly doubled.
So what I’m saying is that I want to make a great album of great songs and to do that, we need to reach our goal.
Stretch Goal of $200,000. If we raise more than our goal, we can keep going! If we reach our Stretch Goal, all that we raise will go toward marketing and promotion, original video content and tour support. This tour support will allow me to do shows in more places and that means I’ll get to meet you out there on the road. All of the funds we raise will go right back into engaging with you, the fans.
I think we’ve compiled a cool list of items and experiences to fund this project. Check them out. I’m particularly eager to ride bikes with you, go to Broadway shows with you and to co-write a song with you. Also, the house concerts offered are going to be so much fun. Please read each description of your pledge level carefully. (Keep in mind that for many of the prizes that are "experiences", you'll have the remainder of 2014 and all of 2015 to schedule. We'll work it out!)
I love the EQUALITY PLEDGE level. Here's why. When I came out of the closet and began using my public platform to advocate for the LGBT community, I was blown away to learn just how big our community is. All those years in hiding, thinking that I was alone. Gosh, was I wrong!
And to compound the emotions of it all, I discovered that there are SO MANY straight allies out there in the world who have stood up publicly to voice their support for EQUALITY. Many of you have told me that you’d like to show your support for my coming out, but you’re not sure how. Well this is how. The EQUALITY PLEDGE will reflect your support and your pledge will be counted along with other pledgers who support LGBT Equality. I think it'll be powerful for folks to see the EQUALITY PLEDGE'S final tally.
This year marks my 20 year anniversary of making records. I have been really fortunate to have dedicated fans who’ve been with me since very early on in my career and together we’ve accomplished great things.
I have always considered myself lucky to have been able to make records in Nashville with the best musicians, producers and record labels in the business and to have relationships with some of the greatest radio stations in the country. I cherish the hit records and triumphs that I was blessed to have.
But the thing that I've always been most proud of is my relationship with the fans. We accomplished so much together. Let’s make some new memories!
This is the new chapter of my life and my career and I can’t thank you enough for your support.

Risks and challenges
Of course, as most of you know, making records is more of an abstract endeavor than a scientific one. Therefore, there could be circumstances that cause a delay in the completion and release of the project. It could be due to mixing/production issues or any number of reasons. I've asked you (my fans) to be patient before, as I buckled down to do my best work and hopefully, you feel I've never let you down. We will address any obstacles in a timely fashion, as it is our mission to not only release this record, but to have success with it as well.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
