Hark the (Hoard) Herald Angels
Season's Greetings Hoard backers,
Another year is nearly 'done and dusted'--as we say in New Zealand. In North America, Thanksgiving has just signalled the beginning of the winter holidays while I've already been enjoying my favorite summer fruit, cherries, and contemplating Cheeky Parrot's year.
Although selling well in New Zealand and Australia, Hoard hasn't made quite the splash we'd hoped in the North American market. It's not surprising a market two times the order of magnitude of New Zealand's should be challenging to penetrate. I'd started trying to make efforts from this end to have Hoard shown off at events when I learned there is a service that does precisely that and more...
So for 2018, I have signed up to the Envoy program run by the Double Exposure Company. Envoy recruits Heralds, volunteers who enjoy introducing new games to other players; trains them up and supplies them with games; then dispatches them to official events, retailers, and less formal get-togethers in their geographic area. We're excited to be working together and if all goes well, Double Exposure may be able to help Cheeky introduce other games in our catalogue to the North American market. If you've especially enjoyed Hoard and might like to sign on as a Herald, you can check out the Envoy program via the link above and click the appropriate spot to indicate your interest.
One of the first events where Hoard will be spotlighted is the Midwinter Gaming Convention, to be held next year in Milwaukee, Wisconsin from January 11-14. Another future Hoard Herald, Anne Holmes, coordinates this event and is planning to run either a play-to-win or other tournament; to that end I've sent her the remaining few Hoard art prints as prize support.
Other Cheeky plans? Well, I now have another game in my publishing pipeline and I'll reveal more about it in the quarterly newsletter going out later this week. To sign up, visit Cheeky's website and scroll down.
I wish you all safe and happy winter/summer holidays.
