Five player stretch and questions to die over

Hoard fans, we've now unlocked the first two stretch goals, which means the dragon will be printed on sturdy, easy-to-flip boards (and thanks to your input, he'll be printed to flip top to bottom) and the cards will have linen finish and include the tricky crown interactive card. This evening I took Hoard along to the Pt Chev Games Night. The crown certainly added extra fun to our 3+ player games...though not so much when you discover it and before you get another turn to put it down, it gets stolen from you at sword-point! Then again, the perpetrator felt so bad, she gave me the two point token in sympathy. Tonight we used a plastic poker chip for that, but Tim has whipped up a draft copy for your feedback:

(How) should we indicate the jester's cap is worth two points for that round? We don't want to use the same number/font as appears on the scoring tokens but we're not sure about leaving it blank.
(How) should we indicate the jester's cap is worth two points for that round? We don't want to use the same number/font as appears on the scoring tokens but we're not sure about leaving it blank.

We're now working to reach stretch goal #3, which is a big one: the addition of a second punchboard so that we can include a fifth player (as seen in the Board Game Geeking update) whom we have decided to call Rowan. Tim thinks with the extra space the second punchboard will give us, the tallest characters should be about 5 cm high. If we hit this target, we'll also release the Print and Play files to all backers at the $15 level or higher, so you'll only have to wait until next month to get a taste of Hoard.

Finally, here's a big question and we're looking forward to your input. The custom die can be any two Pantone shades. Tim and Beck have whipped up four possibilities to get our discussion rolling. We welcome your comments and votes:

Less than 48 hours to go now! Cross fingers for a big finish.

I vote D. It is the most striking, most unique, & easiest to see what is going on. It also fits the theme better with the yellow/gold Inlay for the die-faces.

      I like D - Purple with gold.
I don't know quite why, it just seems to pop out of the page and is very different from any other game I personally have played. I wouldn't normally go for a gold colour, but it does seem to work very well with the purple.

I'd vote C and D second, but anything is fine for me :)

      I like dice B with D a close second.
Can't wait to play this game with my grandkids.

As for the jester's cap token, it could have two coins, one resting on the other, in front of the cap.

I'm a fan of die C. Gotta Grab the Gold!

@Joeyjojo Thanks for your thoughts. The crown card is to be added to games with three or more players only since it has the element of favoring two players and excluding the others. We've found that one on one games need no enhancement, some of them become very protracted close battles: played one yesterday and lost 19-21!

Purple and Gold works for me

D: Purple with gold pips. Gold for the treasure and purple for the royal crown that's ended up in the dragon's hoard. As an aside, I think it looks really attractive and I have NEVER seen a dice in this colour combo.

I also like the idea of +2 on the back of the jester's cap.

I'll just say I'm pleased with how the voting has gone overnight. We'll give it a full 24 hours, then tally them up...
Re: the jester cap: I love the idea of putting +2 on the back side, that way there's a reminder, but no numbers obscuring the artwork on the front.

Purple and gold looks best in my opinion. The Gold really is thematic (treasure) and the purple makes it pop.

      D, with C as a close second.

About the Jester token, there are no numbers on the cards indicating value (including no "3" on the Crown card), so why should there be one on the Jester? as long as the values are listed together with the rest, there shouldn't be a problem.

I decided more explanation is needed. I really prefer a more traditional black on white die but option B is the closest and appeals the most of the 4 choices.

      Like option B the best.

Style B: Would be nice to have a Purple die. Style A: would be my second choice
Its just much easier to see since the cards are already the color gold. :)

"(How) should we indicate the jester's cap is worth two points for that round?"
Write a big "+2" on the back.

Gold with black pips is the best visually - those are the two colors the human eye best can distinguish. So C. D as a close second.

      Wow tough call...a few thoughts:

      1) If you're going thematic, then C is probably the best choice, as "gold" obviously fits the theme and the color of the card backs.

      2) HOWEVER, I have to say the color(s) on C are kind of drab, imo (I have gold dice in Talisman board game, and they blend with the board...don't like it much), and the one that really pops and is easy to read is A; red just stands out (the bold color that it is).

      3) That being said, purple is the color or royalty, and I'm not sure how much the crown plays a factor in the game, so...

Overall, even though the majority seem to like D, I prefer A, as there will never be a question what the die roll is or where it is on the 'board.' Easy to read.

One other thing: how does the crown/jester cap work, exactly? In a 2-player if one gets the crown, are they essentially only gaining 1 point advantage, since the other player gets 2? Or am I missing something...
