Halfway!

Amazing: we're not quite 6 days out from launch and we're at the halfway point. I don't know how accurate it is and creators are advised not to even look (yeah, right), but here's a projection of how far we could get. We will keep doing our best to spread the word about Hoard. Can you help?

Without further ado, here are the two options for the Treasure Chest (wild card) design. Please vote for your favorite by leaving the letter A or B in the comments. You're more than welcome to post a bit more verbiage than that, if you have other input:

This past weekend I brought Hoard to Board Games by the Bay Auckland and about 30 people stopped by to play, some staying for several rounds. I used the occasion to keep play-testing a few cards that may be appearing as stretch goals, depending on how far we get. Hoard's next major appearance will be at the ninth annual WellyCon, New Zealand's oldest and biggest board gaming event, to run June 4-5. If you're able to get to Wellington, check out the Cheeky Facebook page for a chance to win one of two adult one-day passes (and an opportunity to vote a second time in the Treasure Chest poll).

Coming soon: a Double Dragon reward allowing backers to pledge for two copies of Hoard and we have French and Italian translations of the directions underway.

Karl (15hrs before this comment) had an interesting suggestion too though.

B.. timely reminder is good for first time players or kids who pick up the game

A - Looks better with the rest of the cards

B, but how does it look with a smaller reminder icon?

B side. I definitely needs reminders!

      Option B is my pick.

      B - it's a nice reminder with the pic

Rachel, I'm happy to tell you you're neither unobservant nor delusional. The card you've seen, that we've been using in the prototypes and that was Tim's original design in his verison, has no dragon on it.

Also B. Even though Karl's idea seems really cool actually...

I like Karl's option "C" idea... Because however many times I've seen the treasure chest I only just saw the dragon on the top of that card.

      I like A
Personally what I would do is move the treasure chest up and have an awake dragon on the bottom half, like the asleep one on the top. To me that gives you your visual reminder and also keeps the cards very 'clean'

Bamble--you're an iconoclast and thus a person after my own heart, but it looks like the Bs will have the votes.

B - Pictures speak a thousand words, or at least in this instance remind us of one line of the game mechanic

I guess the B's pretty much have it (though I would have voted B too). I do admire cards with good art, but if there's room for a picture-reference without taking up much space, then I'm all for that. :)

Option B - graphic reminders are the best!

      I also prefer B.

The dragon action cards don't need icons, as their name and picture indicates what to do, but I take your point, Stijn.

I prefer B. If the dragon action cards have icons like this, it makes sense to apply the same logic to the treasure chest to include a reminder.
