Reviews coming in
Hello! We are a third of the way to our target and I will have to be careful to avoid greetings like "Good morning" in these updates because our backers span the globe. So far we've had about 65 North Americans, 54 Antipodeans, and 30 Europeans back our campaign and 14 of you had never contributed to a Kickstarter campaign before. If these sort of figures interest you, check out the "Community" tab on the landing page, and oh! right above it you might see this little blue treasure:
Fittingly, I think, the person who alerted me to this, before I saw the email from Kickstarter, was Alexander Quarella of GDT Live, an Italian board game podcast channel. Alexander was one of several reviewers who responded to the rather last-minute request I posted on the Facebook Boardgame reviewer group. I had lined up some interviews already, but was feeling nervous about not having video reviews. Boy, did this community step up to help. Alexander even went so far as to make himself a print-and-play so he could do a segment on Hoard:
Even if you speak no Italian, it's fun to watch if you like the sound of the language, which Alexander assures me he speaks especially fast and I got a real kick out of the inevitable hand gestures. (I'm of Italian heritage on my mother's side.) There are English captions.
Another reviewer who responded to my plea was Michael May of Toucan Play That Game, who posted his review about 24 hours ago. Michael is the first who has commented about what it's like to play with different numbers of players. The opinion part starts at about 11:45 and he is comprehensive and fair, one sample being, "It takes two of my least favorite mechanics and manages to make a really good game out of it." Yes! Mission accomplished.
I plan to post the next update when we get halfway to target. We'll show off the two treasure chest options then and have backers pick their favorite.
