A strong break from the gate!
Greetings! As I write, our Hoard Kickstarter campaign has been live for 16 hours and we are nearly to 17% of our target. I've heard that if you can achieve 20% in the first 48 hours, that is a good harbinger of success, so I'm feeling excited, optimistic, and above all, grateful that others share our enthusiasm for this nifty little game.
This is a photo of Tim and Beck's original self-published version of Hoard:
In addition to tweaking the gameplay, we realised there were opportunities to show off even more of Tim and Beck's eye-catching artwork; one of the first thoughts we had was to replace the wooden Meeples with character pawns made of punchboard and inserted into plastic bases. This way, when set up, the game really will look like there are diminutive adventurers rummaging through a dragon's treasures.
You will have seen Esmeralda and Captain Hogarth in the main page of the campaign and now we have the third character to unveil. We call her Vera:
When we get halfway to target, we'll unveil a new, improved treasure chest card. In fact, Tim has made two variants, and we will ask you to help us pick the better of the two.
In the meantime, I wonder if anyone can come up with a fun backstory for the lady in purple above? For inspiration, and to see him before he was rendered in full color, you can read Hogarth's story here.
