Who Goes There — Fiend or Foe?
Even at night, the hothouse jungle that is your home never grew this quiet. The hush that had fallen was as quick as it was unsubtle. The noisy nocturnal predator plants, the barely-audible night-flies, and the bilious glow-frogs had all gone silent as one. There was something out there now. Something big.
Then you saw it. It was not big — in fact it was very small. A single flitting creature of the night, a tiny humming-dragon. Normally only dangerous in dread-flocks, this one was a very pregnant female, scaly abdomen aglow with the life aborning within. Everything would be all right so long as you slowly backed away before —
The tiny handspan-tall draconian’s entire body coiled and then convulsed. But instead of the expected radioactive flame, she shot forth her newly-born brood, becoming in that act her own dread-flock. A small cloud of voracious insect-sized broodlings paused in mid-air, and then began to drift towards you.
There were many mutations and no small amount of salvaged technology you could have used in that moment, but instead you ran for it. You ran as fast as your three legs would carry you. You ran so fast that you have little knowledge of what transpired behind you, except that it must have involved slower, less lucky prey.
This is not the story you will tell later back in the village.
What’s Between the Covers
With over 80 pages of savage gaming content stuffed between its covers, Fight This Mutant features 30 brand-new mutant monsters and races, a whole new Ancient Alliance that your player characters can join or fight, a brand-new character class — the Technomacer, and 20 brand-new neural programs including programs from 1st through 5th levels!
Usable in any d20-based post-apocalyptic role playing game and penned by the creator of Mutant Crawl Classics RPG, the creatures, collectives, and classes found in this book will put new mutated meat on the table for the players of any science-fiction or fantasy role playing game. Just scan this table of contents.
30 New Mutant Menaces
Fight This Mutant contains 30 new malicious mutants and malformed monstrosities you can use in any post-apocalyptic or genre-mashing fantasy campaign. More than mere monsters, each entry is fully illustrated and rich in plot hook opportunities. From the frightening to the formidable, these maniacal imaginings from Darwin’s most fevered nightmares will challenge any group of players.
The Technomicron — A New Ancient Alliance
Don’t let their shambling, shabby, and disheveled stone-age appearance fool you. The Technomicron are among the most sinister of all the myriad denizens of Omega-Terra — for theirs is the power of the Mindtap! Just let one of them insert that pronged augmented reality artifact into the base of your skull, and you can see the world as they do too. It’s not only better than the world you actually live in, it may even include a handy new AI puppetmaster who secretly commands you.
The Technomancer — A New Character Class
The Technomancers are those that walk through the shadows in order to bring the light. Using cyberlinks, a Technomancer can appear to alter the very laws of physics with but a guarded gesture or a whispered hyper-equation. The Technomancer is a whole new character class for post-apocalyptic or genre-mashing fantasy role playing games, featuring all-new neural programs that go up to 5th level, along with information on the ranks, level privileges, and internal structuring of their post-apocalyptic society.
20 New Neural Programs/Spells — 1st through 5th Level!
Included with both the Technomancer class and the Cyber-Lich monster are an awesome array of 20 new neural programs, i.e. spells. Usable both by the denizens in the book or by similar practitioners in your own campaign, these programs run the gamut, from effects to satiate desires both subtle or gross — but they are not for the timid of spellcasting.
Art and Design
Fight This Mutant is a softcover digest-sized book at 6” x 9”, so you can stick it straight in your game bag with all your other stuff. Each and every entry in the book is illustrated by a titanic team of veteran industry artists including Ala Fedorova, Bradley McDevitt, J.E. Shields, Dan Smith, James V. West, and Jim Wampler. Check out these sample art pieces from the book for a taste of what is to come!
How to Pledge for Multiple Copies
Need to pledge for multiple copies of Fight This Mutant? Just select the pledge level for the SOFTCOVER + PDF and fill out the dollar amount in multiples of $20 (i.e. $40 for two copies, $60 for three copies, etc).
Backing for the limited edition hardcover and a softcover? Select the hardcover pledge level for $40 and in the dollar amount repeat the process outlined above by adding multiples of $20 for each softcover copy you want to get.
Simplicity, thy name is Media Mail. Each book will ship in a sturdy cardboard envelope via Media Mail. Per Kickstarter recommendations, shipping and handling costs ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE PLEDGE LEVELS. At the time of launch, shipping and handling is planned to be an economical $5 per book shipped. Backers pledging over $1 have the option of adding that $5 per book to an existing pledge level.
All shipping for this Kickstarter is to the USA ONLY, so please pledge accordingly. Current International shipping costs are so high that shipping outside the USA is not feasible for Mudpuppy Games at this time. We know that sucks, but much larger companies with better resources than us have struggled with this and failed. Plus we just can’t bring ourselves to charge shipping costs in excess of the price of the product itself, and for that philosophy we can only apologize in advance.

$8,000 — 70s Pocketbook Homage Edition Add-On
When this stretch goal unlocks, we up our game with a special edition version of Fight This Mutant formatted as a loving homage to genre paperbacks of the 1970s. When artist Dan Smith turned in the line art version of this interior illustration, we all knew it belonged on a DAW paperback book cover, so we decided to get as close as we could without an active time portal. At 4.25” x 6.88”, this edition includes all the same great interior content as the full-size book, just miniaturized down to nostalgic pocketbook dimensions. Once unlocked, just add $20 to your pledge, and after the kickstarter has closed, select the 70s Paperback Homage Edition add-on in your backer survey.
$8,000 — 11” x 17” Omega-Terra Campaign Map Add-On
When this stretch goal unlocks, this full-color 11” x 17” map of the Omega-Terra campaign setting becomes available as a $15 add-on. This map includes all the treacherous terrain of a cratered continent, from glow deserts to hothouse jungles, plus markers noting the locations of many intriguing ruins, temples, and cults. Once unlocked, just add $15 to your pledge, and after the kickstarter has closed, select the Omega-Terra Campaign Map add-on in your backer survey.

Risks and challenges
The Fight This Mutant book has already been written and layout begun. The editor for the book and the art team are all assembled and ready to go. All stretch goal and add-on items are designed and ready for production. After the kickstarter funds, art orders will go out to our team of artists, and final layout and editing will be completed. We will be using the same printers we used on the prior project, so turn-around time and print quality are assured.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
