About this project
CHECHIL BEER SNACK IN THE US!
We are a group of cheese makers from New York that specialize in one kind of cheese - Chechil. What is Chechil? It is actually one of the most popular beer snacks in the world and we are the first ones producing this delicious snack in the United States!
What is Chechil?
Chechil is a smoked, braided, salty, string-cheese that is enjoyed by beer drinkers and enthusiasts across the globe. It originated in Armenia and is very popular in places such as Central Asia, Russia, as well as many other Eastern European countries. Chechil is made from pasteurized cow milk and is low in fat. It's taste is salty, very chewy, and with a smoky flavor to it. Its consistency is firm and smooth. The cheese strings are tied together in braids, and when un-braided and peeled, there becomes many individual hair-like pieces of string-cheese. Chechil is an all natural product with no chemicals or preservatives and it is very fibrous and healthy. The shelf life of Chechil is 3 months.
During our visits to Russia, Armenia, and the Central Asian Region we had the pleasure to enjoy Chechil in most restaurants and bars. Once we tried it, we could not get enough of it! The problem occurred to us when we arrived back to the US.....we could not find this amazing snack anywhere in the US!
So my friend and I, have traveled to Russia last summer to specifically learn about this cheese. We visited 3 production plants to learn the process of making Chechil and also bought the secret recipe from them so we can share this delicacy right here in the US. The process of making Chechil differs from any other kind of cheese, this is what makes it so original and special. It requires a set of costly equipment to mass produce more efficiently. This is why we need your support.
We do not want to import Chechil since the shelf life is only 3 months and we want to give our customers the best experience with Chechil, using only the freshest and local ingredients. Importing it would also skyrocket our costs, and we want Chechil to be available for an affordable price.
We want to have Chechil to be available in supermarket chains, restaurants, and bars across the United States. We have already been contacted by various bars in NYC and stores across the US that are interested in carrying our product. This is why mass production is a must!

Each packet of Chechil Cheese includes one braid. The length of the braid is about 9 inches on average and the weight is 300 grams. Once un-braided, it would usually take at least a few days to consume since it is not eaten like regular cheese. Think of the chewiness factor similar to beef jerky, so each bite is its own enjoyment. It is best enjoyed with your favorite beer.
