Thanks for checking out our Kickstarter campaign! We can't believe it's been nearly two years since we released new music. We've put thousands upon thousands of miles onto our Hyundai Accent to share our stories and songs in person. Now we're hoping to get back in studio to share them with you on a new EP—but we need your help to make that happen!
There are two types of inspiration. There is divine inspiration, which feels like it was sent straight from the heavens into your lap. Then there is defiant inspiration, which mercilessly pins you to the ground, demanding to be pried open like an oyster for its pearl. This is a story about my encounters with both. But mostly the latter.
There's a lyric from one of our songs that goes: we are poets, wrestling the thunderstorms. That is how it felt to write this EP. These songs did not comply or surrender willingly. It was like inspiration had sucker-punched me against a wall, knocking the air right out of my lungs.
Like wrestling thunderstorms.
I was so frustrated. Every time I sat down to write it felt like an insurmountable struggle. The songs seemed scatterbrained, with no clear direction. But creativity works in mysterious ways...
On June 30, 2016 I spent the early morning hours lying belly-down on my bed, absentmindedly leafing through pages of my songwriting notebook. I grazed the lyrics with my fingertips, feeling the indentation of the ink, chuckling at little notes I'd scribbled in the margins and shoddy verses I'd carved big X's through. Halfway into a song called Skeletons, I stopped. There it was. Right there, at the top of the chorus, clear as day: There are things that we don't talk about, messes that we've made...
That was it! These songs I'd struggled with—songs I'd once believed to be "random"—actually all pointed to the same theme: things we don't talk about. They were songs about silent conflicts. Secret lives. Secret lovers. Horrors we omit from our history books. Our extraordinary existence. A longing for romance. Self-doubt.
This EP was not easy to write. One song took us seven whole months to finish. But we learned an important lesson: to leave nothing unsaid. To wrestle the thunderstorms.
Your support encourages us to keep going, to keep writing and to continue pursuing lovely in our music and in our everyday. We want to keep making music for you because we have so much to say—so much we do not want left unsaid.
Will you help us say it?

One Song On New EP
Being able to record new material is crucial for our career as independent artists. But making music costs money. We have to hire a producer and musicians. We have to pay for studio time, mixing, mastering, photography, graphic design, manufacturing of the physical CDs, and shipping supplies/costs. Without the financial backing of a record label, these combined costs are more than we can afford on our own. That's where you come in. In exchange for helping us cover our expenses, we're offering you some pretty nifty rewards.
Unique postcards from 5 tour stops. Phoenix...Los Angeles...Salt Lake City. Who knows—maybe we'll even write you from London! Let's dream big!!
Handwritten lyrics to your favorite Chasing Lovely song in Taylor's Picasso-esque penmanship. Hang it. Frame it. Or write your own killer tune on the back!

Our funding goal covers the costs for a 5-song EP, which we definitely need to keep on creating and touring. But we do have one more song we would LOVE to add to this EP if we are able to raise a bit more.
Push Goal #1:
If we are able to exceed our goal and raise $11,400, we will turn this 5-song EP into a 6-song EP! We have such big dreams for this sixth song and would love the opportunity to create it!
Push Goal #2:
If we are able to raise $13,500, (which is $3000 above our original goal) we will not only be making a 6-song EP for you all, but we will also record a 5-song acoustic Christmas EP! We embarked on the first Chasing Lovely Christmas Tour this past winter and it was so well received that we are going to do it again this year! Because everyone at these shows asked—we would love to have a Christmas EP available, so spread the word! LET'S MAKE CHRISTMAS MUSIC!!!
Risks and challenges
Risks: If we don't reach our funding goal, we cannot make this EP. That is the only risk that could jeopardize this project. If it funds, we will get to work immediately!
Challenges: Honestly, the biggest challenge for us will be making frequent posts on social media about this campaign—but not too frequent that it annoys people. That, or calming our overwhelming anxiety as we resist the urge to constantly refresh our Kickstarter page to see if it has funded. We will likely cope by simultaneously meditating in the Downward Dog pose while consuming copious amounts of chocolate chip cookies. Pray for us. Or support our campaign (that helps more).Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
