Since releasing our debut album, Love, Crime & Other Trouble, in 2015, we've been incredibly fortunate to connect with an audience all over the world who enjoy dark yet entertaining story songs about death, crime, the supernatural, ancient mythology, and paranormal romance.
Our listeners never cease to amaze us with their generosity and active engagement – you guys are the greatest. You’ve created original artwork and videos inspired by our music, you email us to request copies of the chord chart for “Ghost Story,” and you blow us away every time you pay more than the minimum to download our music on bandcamp. We are truly grateful for your support, and it continually inspires us to dig deeper, work harder, and create more music.
SO! We are excited to announce that we have just started the process of recording our second album: CAUTIONARY TALES. We've been working on this collection of songs for the past year, writing and practicing and touring, and now we’re cooking up something really special for you.
CAUTIONARY TALES includes songs about such topics as:
- Ancient Greek mythology
- The end of the world, Viking style
- Ensorcelled animals
- Faerie abduction
- Gypsy abduction
- The inevitable decay of all things
- Secret double agents
- Voodoo, séances, & other occult rituals
- And more! You will learn so many useful lessons!
We're launching this Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for our album recording and release. Crowdfunding our production costs means that future sales of the album will immediately go toward bigger & better projects, such as total world domination.
Our budget includes:
- Recording and mixing with Don Godwin, the amazing engineer who produced Love, Crime & Other Trouble
- Paying the guest musicians we’ve roped into this process
- Digital distribution to iTunes, Amazon, Google, etc.
- Physical production of CDs and lyric books
If we exceed our funding goal, additional amounts will help pay for other project-related expenses like:
- Professional mastering
- Music video production
- Album cover / promo photo shoot
- Commissioning original artwork for the album cover and/or new merch
- Hiring professional help for publicity, booking, etc.
- Producing new merch (t-shirts, tote bags, magnificent hats...?)
- Touring expenses
We've come up with some fun ways to express our appreciation for your support -- check out the dazzling array of rewards we've concocted for you and see for yourself. Thank you so much for being out there listening, and thanks in advance for helping us bring CAUTIONARY TALES to life! We think you're really going to dig the new album.

UPDATE 9/09/16: Announcing our $7,000 stretch goal!
If we reach the $7,000 mark, we are excited to announce we'll be commissioning original album cover art by the incredible artist Magda Boreysza. She creates haunting drawings and prints of fairy tale-inspired animals, feral children, and other artifacts of her mesmerizing imagination, and we are SO EXCITED that she's interested in collaborating with us to create new work specifically for our music.
As an additional thank you, if we cross the $7,000 mark, all of our backers will also receive 2 bonus tracks: one from Jeff's other band, Kotorino, and one from Ellia's other band, Sweet Soubrette. (If you like Charming Disaster, you'll like them too!)
UPDATE 9/08/16: We reached our $6,000 stretch goal!
We reached the $6,000 mark! Everyone who donates to our project gets a free PDF download of the super cool steampunk comic Arcane Sally and Mr. Steam, issues #1 and #2, on top of the rewards already listed. Yes, it's true!
Risks and challenges
Risks & challenges include: mysterious enchantments, imprisonment, madness, hauntings, amnesia, venomous reptiles, the Evil Eye, extreme weather events, Machiavellian power plays by our enemies. Rest assured we are fully equipped with the appropriate antivenin, counterspies, counterspells, lock picks, lotions, potions, and other preventative measures.
Truly, though: we could encounter delays due to musician/producer scheduling availability, and worldwide economics could affect some of our costs or timing for physical production. But we are fully committed to making this album, have already begun in fact, and are doing most of the heavy lifting ourselves so there shouldn't be too much unpredictability in terms of personnel. We've made one album together already (plus at least five more individually for Kotorino and Sweet Soubrette), and we're confident this one will also get made, come Hell, high water, or any other disaster.
Then again, the world could end...Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
