About this project
This spectaculously amazorbing ball that will mesmerise all who look at it, caturday will no longer be the same !
There are 384 LEDs all individually controllable and programmable, it is compatible with the freely available Arduino IDE and AVR Studio, comes with sample source code and patterns to get you started, as well as being preprogrammed for instant blinky fun.
The LifePo4 battery lasts upto 10 hours and is rechargeable from a 5VDC@1A source (included in the $250 and above levels)
The ball supports bi-directional Bluetooth. There is a microphone for beat detection and synchronicity. For even more fun there is an Accelerometer which is a 3 Axis MMA 7455 LT.
Its fun to build, and even more fun to play with.
We've also written Android and Desktop apps that allow you to push images to the ball via Bluetooth, so it can play effects or mini movies in a 16x24 resolution, makes it really easy to make patterns and so on. All source code is included with the project.
We're kickstarting this to help us get the parts costs down, pcb's and for assembly.
How far along we are
We've already built our first 5 prototypes, a few changes have been made for ease of build and a few fixes so its all ready to go into production.
