My name is Charlie Mosbrook. I am a songwriter from Cleveland, Ohio. I am in the late stages of producing a CD of new material and I need your help to release it.
Mid summer of this past year I retreated to a family vacation in northeast Pennsylvania following tour with Greg Allen Reese. We had been to Woody Guthrie's home for his centennial. We slept on the ground that night and sang til all hours. We visited Gruhn guitars in Nashville and played instruments as old as Woody. I was inspired by the tour and set out to use the time in PA to write new music. With a view of the forest, the endless mountains, and the road still my existence, songs came forward as if they had been waiting within me for years. They had a traditional theme that I had always looked for. I was tapping into something special and I knew it. When I came home and began to share the new material The enthusiasm was immediate.
In addition to audiences requesting the new songs most, and an increasing demand for a CD, other songwriters were asking to perform the songs with me. Avin Baird, Greg, Steev Inglish and Xe La have all been very enthusiastic about getting this record made. It has become a community effort much like my Coverage CD. I really believe this is the best work I have done. My peers are affirming that to me. It is exciting.
This is my second Kickstarter project and I have returned without hesitance. I have handled all of the costs of producing the music. I turn to this method of public funding to complete the physical production of the CDs. I like fan supported funding because it allows me to retain creative control of my music while holding myself to an expectation to create the best product I am able. My belief in this type of funding is based in it's ability to create pre-sales of the disc and increase awareness for the project. As a music fan it has become my prefered source for new music.
I have had a good number of people request these songs, and the recordings are in the words of Avin, a real treat. They deserve a lasting presentation. My resources are limited, and like any other business, I need to inject additional money that is not immediately available for larger projects. I am not seeking charity. I am appealing to those of you who like my music. I am going to a proven format to help creative projects meet their completion. I reach out to you who support my musical goals and accomplishments to help me get this music out to as many folks as I can. All pledges will be met with rewards equal if not greater than the value of your pledge.
I thank you for your continued support and look forward to presenting these songs and CD. I will throw a party, and you are invited.
Risks and challenges
My project should not have any major issues. The cost of completion and fulfillment are within the request. The only issue I can imagine would be an increase in cost at the manufacturers end. This would force me to rework my budget, but should not create a major gap that would prevent completion in a timely manner.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
