This project's funding goal was not reached on February 21, 2014.
About this project
At the age of 19, Charles heard his first opera. La Bohème changed his life. He's been attending the opera all over the world ever since. Being a Met Opera Young Associate and Met National Council Auditions Committee member gives him the opportunity to see performances with other young cultured professionals who have a passion for opera. He realized early our numbers were dwindling. He made it his duty to introduce more of his friends to this beauteous art. It is just that which led him on this journal to write this book.
Where will the money go?
Money raised will go toward production and research for the book. The research will include performance reviews of operas in 2014 all over the world. The Metropolitan Opera in New York City will provide the main venue, with additional performances domestically and globally. There will also be a lot of traveling to meet with opera singers to interview and hear their story. Because he is self-publishing, a large part of funding will help cover publishing and editing costs. We are working diligently on creating a new web site due be be launched by or before the end of February. We are also assuring that the book will have a digital form for those of us who read on the iPad and Kindle.
For your support I am offering exclusive rewards like production credits, a one-of-a-kind screensaver, exclusive Polaroid photos, opportunities to attend performances with me, and the opportunity to help make a global opera performance review part of the book.
Risks and challenges
My main goal is to help bridge the gap between opera and Generation Xers. My priority is to write the book as I go along this year and have it completed by February 2015 and ready for production. Because I am self-publishing, this gives me control over production time. I'm working closely with McNally Jackson Publishing to ensure a smooth publication.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Yes. For example. I'm seeing all 14 performances of La Bohème at The Met Opera this current season.
