SKYWARD – The Airborne City
AU$ 37,863

Skyward is a strategy card drafting game of control versus opportunity for 2-4 players.
After centuries of sparring, four factions have finally put their differences aside and agreed to combine their strengths to build a better tomorrow. As a commitment to this new alliance, they are working together to launch Skyward – the world’s first airborne city – constructed above the point where all four empires meet.
The factions formed a committee made up of cultural luminaries to help build the city. The committee self-selects a Warden each season to assist in dividing the work among its members. You play as one of the competing luminaries to help build the airborne city and to ultimately be named the Founder of Skyward.
Control vs. Opportunity

In Skyward, the Warden deals cards from the central deck and splits them into piles however they see fit. Each player chooses a pile, providing them with buildings and resources.

Being the Warden is a double edged sword. You wield the power of the split but everyone else gets to pick first. Cleverly manage your split by creating piles that your opponents desire, but are not good enough to secure a win, while keeping your own agenda a secret.
How to Play
Instead of just writing about it, how about we show you? Watch below as Allen and Brendan explain how to play a 2-player game of Skyward.
Try the Game
Want to see what the game is all about before pledging? No worries! You can download the preview Print & Play edition, along with the latest draft rulebook, which includes enough cards for a 2-player game.

KS Exclusive Metal Token
Included in every copy of Skyward is an exclusive antique finish, double sided, metal Warden token. This is used instead of the cardboard Warden token that comes standard with the game.

It is approximately 40mm in diameter and weighs about 28g (1 oz.). The Warden token is a great weight, has a nice feel in the hand, and a high level of detailing.
Large Format Cards
Skyward cards are larger than the standard playing card size. They are 65 mm x 100 mm (2.5" x 3.9"), the same sized cards as 7 Wonders.
Skyward is almost 30% larger than standard bridge size cards. The larger cards feel fantastic to hold and showcase the beautiful artwork, masterfully illustrated by our team of artists.

The larger format isn't just for showing the artwork. Being able to easily identify cards at a glance in Skyward is very important. The layout of the cards was purposefully designed to be minimalistic and takes advantage of the larger card size perfectly.

Reward Tiers

Add-Ons

Group Pledges
Want more than 2 copies? Every group pledge is different, so get in touch with us and we'll work out the correct amount to pledge. The larger the pledge, the bigger the discount we can offer through more economical shipping.
Retailers
We love retailers, and if you are a brick-and-mortar retailer we'd love to work with you. Get in touch with us to see how we can work together.

Shipping & Delivery
All rewards will be packed and shipped directly to backers from a fulfillment center in China. This means fewer delays so you'll get your rewards faster.

EU-Friendly Shipping
As with all our campaigns, we offer EU friendly shipping to our EU based backers (including add-ons). The shipping is a bit more expensive, but you're guaranteed not to get charged any additional fees such as VAT or other customs charges. It is possible it will take a little longer for your rewards to arrive since we ship everything to a European fulfillment company first.
Custom Packaging
We want every reward to arrive in excellent condition. As such, every copy of Skyward will be pre-packed in a durable, custom, cardboard mailer box complete with corner protectors. This is something we did with our previous campaign, Burger Up, to great success.
You took the time to support our campaign, and put your faith in us, so the least we can do is give your copy every chance of arriving unscathed.

Skyward is Rule & Make's 6th game. We've worked closely with the games designer, Brendan Evans, to make Skyward. It is the cumulation of the skills we've learned from our previous games along with the skills acquired through our profession, applied to a project we truly care about.
We're on Kickstarter to raise the funds needed to manufacture Skyward. We are at the stage where everything is ready except for manufacturing. This is the point where we cannot go any further without your help. With your support, we can make this game a reality!

Risks and challenges
This is our fourth Kickstarter project, and we've learnt a lot from the first three. We have the knowledge and experience to see this project through, which we've demonstrated with our previous campaigns. There are always elements of risk to any project and we've identified the following areas that introduce the most risk and pose the biggest challenges for the project:
MANUFACTURING
––––
Drawing from our experiences in the print industry and our previous campaigns, we know how to produce a high-quality game. We've set up manufacturing supply chains with several component manufacturers and are confident we can produce a top-notch product.
SHIPPING & FULFILMENT
––––
Shipping can add significant delays, and much of the process is largely out of our control. To mitigate this we will be sending rewards directly to backers from a fulfilment centre in China. This will reduce overall postage costs and allow us to get rewards to backers much quicker.
STRETCH GOALS
––––
To help avoid over-reaching, we've pre-planned all the stretch goals. They have been carefully considered, budgeted, and will not impact on the final delivery timeframe. Once funded, we'll always have one stretch goal announced and tease the one after that.
