About this project
Check out the Man vs Meeple hands-on preview of Hand of Fate Ordeals.
Here are some of the things the players at a recent preview event said about Hand of Fate: Ordeals.
Shipping for this project will be charged after the campaign has ended. This allows us to find the most efficient and competitive shipping option for your region at the time we actually start fulfilment. In addition, we are also subsidising the shipping cost for each pledge.
We will use combinations of different shipping methods and fulfilment centres depending on final reward size, weight, and destination to determine the actual final shipping cost. Below is the estimated shipping cost for each pledge tier, separated by region.
Please note that these are estimated rates based on the core game. Any Stretch Goals unlocked during the campaign may change the weight and size of the game, which could influence the final shipping cost.
Add-on shipping will also be charged after the campaign has finished. Below is the estimated shipping for each add-on, separated by region.
Following the campaign, you will be sent a Kickstarter survey asking for, among other things, your delivery address. Our pledge manager will then handle calculating and charging the correct shipping amount to the delivery address you supply, making consideration for the selected pledge reward tier and any add-ons you may have included.
Regardless of the final shipping cost, we give every backer complete peace of mind thanks to our “no questions asked” refund policy.
All customs fees, taxes, and applicable duty will be pre-paid for United States, Canada, Australia, and the European Union before we send your rewards out. This means you are guaranteed not to incur any additional costs when receiving your rewards if you are from any of these regions.
Hand of Fate: Ordeals is a full collaboration between Rule & Make and Defiant Development. Both companies are big fans of each other’s work and have been for many years. Interest and passion for this project grew organically as both companies started working together, culminating in what you see before you.
Rule & Make is a board game publisher with seven successful tabletop game Kickstarter campaigns. Titles include the 2015 Freeplay winner Rise to Power, the Dice Tower Seal of Excellence recipient, Burger Up and most recently, Entropy: Worlds Collide.
Defiant Development is the video game studio behind the critically acclaimed Hand of Fate, which was successfully funded on Kickstarter in 2013. It combines tabletop storytelling with collectable card-game deck-building and real-time melee combat. The game has over 2.5 million downloads across PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
Collectively, both teams have decades of experience in both the physical and digital space, and some of the most highly skilled people from both the board and video game industries.
Risks and challenges
This is our eighth Kickstarter project, and we've learnt a lot from the first seven. We have the knowledge and experience to see this project through, which we've demonstrated with our previous campaigns. There are always elements of risk to any project and we've identified the following areas that introduce the most risk and pose the biggest challenges for the project:
Kickstarter campaigns live and die by how well creators communicate with their supporters. We keep all our backers informed through weekly updates covering design, pre-production, mass production, right up to fulfilment and final delivery. We promise to keep you informed.
Drawing from our years of experience in the board game industry and all our previous campaigns, we know how to produce a high-quality game. We have been working with our manufacturer on Hand of Fate: Ordeals for more than 4 months now. They will be collaborating on the campaign and will be with us all right through to ensure every stretch goal and component change we make is checked and confirmed.
ESTIMATED DELIVERY DATE
Our estimated delivery date of November 2017 is based on the base game without any stretch goal or add-on unlocks. Should we unlock stretch goals, we will need to produce additional artwork, conduct additional playtesting, and make adjustments to other parts of the game accordingly. These could push our delivery date back depending on how much extra work is required. As part of our promise to you, we will keep everyone informed and let you know in advance of any potential delays.
SHIPPING & FULFILMENT
Shipping will be charged after the campaign has ended. This allows us to find the best and most accurate possible combination of shipping rates and services rather than over-inflating shipping prices now "just in case". In addition, any savings we are able to find will be passed on directly to you.
For total peace of mind, we will notify everyone of the final shipping rates well in advance and encourage anyone to take advantage of our "no questions asked" refund policy (see below) if you feel the eventual shipping cost is unreasonable.
To help avoid over-reaching, we've pre-planned all the stretch goals. They have been carefully considered and budgeted. Once funded, we'll reveal what the stretch goals will be.
We’ve run quite a few Kickstarter projects, with this being our eighth. We have Entropy: Worlds Collide and Smiths of Winterforge in active production and Skyward that is in manufacturing.
Each active project has dedicated project leads, with Smiths of Winterforge managed and developed by Table Tyrant Games. Our active projects have funds pre-allocated and are being well taken care of. We don’t anticipate them impacting our ability to delivery Hand of Fate: Ordeals.
Here at Rule & Make, we stand behind our products. So much so that we are proud to offer a “no questions asked” refund policy—right up until we start fulfilment—in order to give every backer complete peace of mind when pledging. Should you request a refund within 14 days after the campaign has ended, we will refund you the full amount, including fees. After that, it is minus Kickstarter and payment processing fees (since we cannot get these back).
As this campaign is being run in Australian Dollars (AUD), all refunds will be provided in AUD only.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
