Hey there! My name is Chandler and I'm here to make music. After about two years of piano, singing, songwriting, and a bit of guitar, here's a little bit of what I've done!

This project all began when Sarah Kelly approached me after one of her performances at my church and told me that I looked like I could write songs. I had never written a song, couldn't play piano, and hadn't sang in front of people before, but I decided to take a God-given opportunity, and it has been changing my life ever since.
I started attending Sarah Kelly Music School shortly after my encounter with Sarah, and it has become one of my favorite places in the world! I have met so many people that have helped me grow in my love for music and their impact on my life has been truly incredible. I've been there for about two years now and it's like my second home. Music is the dream I accidentally discovered and I'm going to chase after it as fast as I can!
I plan to use this funding to create my first EP album. EP just means that it's a miniature album, with 5 songs instead of 10! I will be working with my two time Grammy nominated friend and mentor and her husband, my producer, Jonas Ekman. My songs will be mixed by Jeremy Hunter who has worked with some amazing artists including P!nk and Taylor Swift, and the string arrangements will be done by the incredibly talented Stevie Black(:
Because I am a minor, my mom, Brandi Nicole Lawn, is running this Kickstarter and helping me achieve my goals as a future musician(: I am incredibly thankful to have her involved in this project!
Risks and challenges
The primary risk in finishing of my project would be related to scheduling delays in the creation process of the EP. While it is a great opportunity and honor to work with industry greats, they are after all, still very busy people. I have a projected release date for my EP in September of 2014. However, camps, sports, and summer reading projects are just a few of the things that come to mind when I think about possible delays in this process. To try and prevent these delays, I will prioritize recording this album as the most important activity during my summer and do my best to maintain communication with everyone involved in the making of this album in order to keep things on track(:
After the EP is finished, there will be an initial struggle to start off my career as a preforming artist. Sarah is always telling us how our first 100 gigs we perform are a learning process and that we will become great once we've achieved that level of experience in music. Until then, it's practicing, and a lot of messing up. The simplest way to put this is that I am not an experienced, grammy-nominated performer... yet. If I have fans that are willing to stick with me through all of the voice cracks and forgotten lyrics and if I keep up my practicing as much as possible, I WILL get my first 100 gigs and continue on to be the great artist I'm dreaming of becoming.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
