Cowboys, photographers, and filmmakers will document the 400 miles by horseback up the Chisholm Trail from San Antonio to Nocona, TX.

The Chisholm Trail Ride is a project created in collaboration with several branches of the Texas Historical Commission’s Heritage Trails Program to help generate interest in the important history of the Chisholm Trail. With a small team of photographers/filmmakers and cowboys, the plan is to ride the nearly 400 miles from San Antonio to Nocona, documenting the rich history along the way. Through the producing of a documentary film, and by utilizing publications and social media, our aim is to not only educate future generations about the importance of this trail to Texas and US history, but to also influence the passing of a bill in Congress that would get the Chisholm Trail inducted as a National Historic Trail. By organizing events in key cities, we hope to generate public interest in the project, and gain individual sponsorships for the remaining historical markers, so that this important trail can be completed.

The end result of documenting this trail ride comes in several forms; the first being a full length documentary film, which would be submitted to film festivals such as Sundance, Cannes, and South by Southwest. We also plan to organize a film screening circuit or curriculums at schools across Texas to help teach future generations about the importance of this history. Secondly, we are already working in collaboration with Texas Highways magazine to promote the ride, and provide an outlet so that we may reach as many people as possible. They have put forth the idea of a multi-issue story, as well as a section on their website that provides daily updates from the trail. Additional publications sought after include Texas Monthly, National Geographic, Traveler, Cowboys & Indians, as well as every newspaper or periodical in the 13 counties between San Antonio and Nocona. We also plan to seek television and radio outlets as well.

We are specifically looking for money to start the project here. We will need approximately $75,000 for the ride in its entirety, and $250,000 to complete the film. Please contact us for other branding opportunities for your company for larger donations. Such as; prominent placement of name or logo on locations TBD (Saddle Bags, vests, support truck). Prominent credit on all printed and all video materials, and links on websites. Creation of a 30 second commercial spot for use by sponsor (creator's discretion). Equipment, person, or objects professionally photographed for use of Sponsor (approx 25 photos), and other perks.

We have the unique opportunity to help preserve this important piece of Texas history through the Chisholm Trail Ride project, but we need sponsors and donations to make any of it happen. We are attempting to not only tell the important story of the Chisholm Trail, but to preserve its history for future generations, and future Texans. Help us get this done. Help us preserve the Chisholm Trail.
