Eastern Front introduces the Red Army and features 175 new cards, scenarios, and is backwards compatible with the original Spearpoint 1943 and the Origins Award nominated Village and Defensive Line Map Expansion.
The map expansion was nominated for a 2013 Origins Award in the "Best Historical Boardgame" category and continues to receive high marks in reviews.
100 Unit Cards feature an assortment of historical German and Russian squad-level infantry, artillery, armor, and aircraft.
50 Command Cards give support, provide special functions, and may even modify die rolls.
25 Damage Cards apply unique Damage Effects to units as they reach their critical break point. These Damage Effects can force units to withdraw, take cover, or may immobilize tanks, knock out weapons, wound infantry, damage aircraft engines or ailerons, and more, adding to the battlefield chaos.
Also included are 2 Quick Reference cards, 1 Score Card, 12 Scenario Cards, 4 dice, and the rules booklet that features video tutorials linked with Quick Response (QR) Codes.
- 175 Cards (100 Unit, 50 Command, and 25 Damage Cards)
- 4 D10 Dice (2 German, 2 Russian)
- 1 Rules Booklet
- 12 Scenario Cards
- 1 Score Card
- 2 Quick Reference Cards
- QR-Code linked Video Tutorials
Unit Cards. There are 100 total Unit Cards included- 50 German and 50 Russian Units. They feature a variety of land and air forces including tanks, infantry, aircraft, artillery, self-propelled guns, and the crews and pilots that man them.
Unlike the original game, Crew and Infantry experience, ability, and cost vary, providing additional variance on how well a unit will perform in combat and react when damaged. Players must strike a balance between cost, ability, and quantity of infantry and crew units as well as all supporting equipment when choosing their forces.
Command Cards. Each Command Card may be used for the special function described, or may also be discarded or "burned" for +1 on any die roll. Some Command Cards enact higher-level orders such as artillery fire missions. Others provide defensive bonuses for units in combat. They always add chaos.
Damage Cards. Damage Cards are used to provide detrimental unit -type specific damage effects or behaviors as a unit takes a critical hit. There are four effects per Damage Card – one for each unit type.
Embedded here is an animated sample turn that walks through each action in a typical turn. This video is intended to outline the flow of a turn and highlight typical gameplay including how combat works.
Additional video tutorials for the game's major concepts will be linked via QR codes from the printed rules. With embedded QR Codes, you can quickly scan the codes within the rules with a smart device or tablet and bring up tutorials for all of the major concepts-- right at your game table!

Special Note to our Existing Preorder (P500) Supporters
If you have already preordered Frontline General: Spearpoint 1943 Eastern Front through Collins Epic Wargames’ P500 system directly (online or at a convention), your preorder is still intact and will be considered equivalent to the Second Lieutenant Support Level. Do nothing, and you will receive everything listed under this level PLUS the exclusive Counters add-on for backing us very early. Should you prefer to upgrade your existing preorder to a higher support level shown here, please place your kickstarter pledge and let us know by a Kickstarter private message if we need to modify or cancel anything for you. If you would like to grab any of the exclusive add-ons, please pledge for the add-ons you'd like under the $1 or more category.
Add-Ons are a way to get some really cool exclusives. The following add-on options are available to any support level. Just increase your pledge amount by the amount noted, we'll survey you for which add-ons you chose (upon end of a successful campaign), and you're all set! All add-ons include free shipping.
NEW- Exclusive Add-On - $50 EA - 1 on 1 Skype Tutorial Session
Want the designer to teach you the rules and play through a game virtually? This add-on does just that. If you add this to your pledge, we'll schedule a 1 on 1 tutorial session with you via Skype (free video chat software). We'll play a few games until any and all questions are answered- and have a lot of fun in the process!
Exclusive Add-On - $5 EA - Set of 50 Tracking Counters
To supplement the components, a useful set of 50 offset-printed die-cut Tracking Counters helps players keep up with who is firing where and when that attack is complete, how many turns an aircraft can remain in flight, who won initiative, and temporary damage sustained by a unit in the current turn. The counters from the Spearpoint 1943 Map Expansion are very similar- so if you already have or pledge for the Map Expansion, we recommend you use those counters.
Exclusive Add-On - $5 EA - Extra Unit Card Decks
Want more options for your Reserves Deck builds without buying a second game? Add an extra 50-card German or 50-card Russian Unit Card Deck for just $5 per deck.
Exclusive Add-On - $20 EA - Commemorative based and painted 15mm Miniature tank with Spearpoint 1943 Eastern Front engraving.
We are pleased to partner with J.R. Sharp of Regimental Colours to offer you an exclusive commemorative based and painted 15mm Miniature tank - your choice of either a Tiger I or T-34B, both in a winter scene - for just $20 each. Each professionally painted miniature also includes an engraved plate to display your support of the Spearpoint 1943 Eastern Front kickstarter project. No two minis are alike! Each miniature is detachable from the base- so if you want to use it in a game, simply detach it, use it, and return it to its base later. Note that using miniatures in place of cards is an optional way to play Spearpoint with the Map Expansion. ONE of these add-ons is FREE with any line-for-life pledge!
Choose (upon survey) T-34B (above) OR Tiger I (below)
Exclusive Add-On - $10 Paper Map Copy of the "Defensive Line" side of the Spearpoint 1943 Village and Defensive Line Map Expansion! For just $10 added to any support level, shipping included, we'll send you an exclusive Paper Map copy of the Defensive Line side of the map from our Village and Defensive Line Map Expansion, which also looks very much like an Eastern Front Setting. Pictured below with stunning artwork by Marc von Martial, this 36"x12" paper map can be used as an accessory with the Eastern Front cards, functioning as a visual play mat for placement of each player's Frontline Unit Cards. If you'd like to step up the map to our mounted version in the Map-based Expansion, that is also available in some of the bundle rewards.
Stretch Goals are levels of funding beyond our initial goal to fund the project. If we reach a Stretch Goal, all backers who pledge for a copy of the game will receive the associated Stretch Goal Reward! All rewards enhance the game and your play options. The first and second Stretch Goals have been achieved and the third Stretch Goals is revealed!

We can’t wait to get this one to production, but we can only do so with your help! Let's make it a success and we'll see you on the Eastern Front!
Risks and challenges
Risk 1) Production is challenging and could lead to delivery delay if any quality issues are encountered. While we are getting more comfortable in the manufacturing aspect of publishing, it remains a challenge to successfully deal with suppliers, ensure the best prices, and keep quality high. It is not easy to do ‘right’ and takes a lot of time and effort. Even so, things can still go wrong that lead to delays (improper / bad proofs, errors, and / or delays beyond our control). Often, as a publisher, we will compete for press time at our printers- this is a potential delay we cannot control.
Regarding production, this isn’t our first rodeo, but it is also not automatic and sometimes unpredictable. We have successfully published three games so far, and our production sense keeps improving. Spearpoint 1943 Eastern Front will be our fourth game. We are working with some of the best domestic manufacturers we know, who are in business to produce quality products in printed form. If we encounter delays due to any quality issue (typically uncovered during proofing), we will not proceed until they are fixed. Any delay will be immediately communicated with our backers to let everyone know what the cause is, what we are doing about it, and how we’ll get through it alongside our printers. We will only consider a production delay if it is in the best interest of getting a quality product to you.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
