Williamsburg Muster Battle Report

Yesterday, I ran 4 full games at a local convention in Williamsburg, VA. I'll be posting a video soon of first-hand feedback from several new players, but the feedback was all positive. Literally everyone who played loved the game and several of its mechanics- especially battlegroups and the quick resolution of combat with 1 die roll. Here are some photos from the events. You may notice some older prototype Combatant Tiles that are a bit larger. I needed those for the infantry. Please click on each photo for a larger version.

Typhark Tanks Added

Typhark Tank from Plasmablast Games.
Typhark Tank from Plasmablast Games.

On the U.N. side, we've added 3 Typhark Tanks from Plasmablast Games to every boxed set (Battlegroup Commander Pledges+ include boxed games with minis). For anyone getting a second set as an add-on, these tanks are also included. As a note, they are the missile variant version. These were originally going to go in when we hit 30% as a Milestone Reward, but, see below...

Milestone Rewards Axed

Part of the dynamics of a kickstarter project (and I've run a few now) is knowing when to adjust things and when feedback that's negative should drive those adjustments. If you haven't yet noticed, I do listen to your feedback intently and do make adjustments when they should be made.

Milestone Rewards were an idea I had to both space out previews and generate excitement about hitting certain points of the project. With the lukewarm and/or negative reception they generated in some cases, they just needed to go away. I did release the preview video covering Command and Control in Polyversal early, and, as noted above, I've gone ahead and added in the Typhark Tanks from Plasmablast for the U.N. faction.

I don't pretend to understand the science of Kickstarter. Ken and I, as a truly small independent team, are doing our best to present a great game to you. We will continue to do so and let the game, and project speak for itself.

A Few Things in the Works

  • Painted Boxed Games. Ken is working on painting up several remaining models of the full boxed starter game. We just lack a few that aren't painted, but, will be showing off two fully painted U.N. and OPFOR factions to help with showing the boxed contents a bit clearer.
  • Meeples and Miniatures Podcast Interview. The great guys at Meeples and Miniatures Podcast in the U.K. will be interviewing me (Byron) this coming Wednesday for a new episode of Meeples and Miniatures Podcast. I'm really looking forward to being on the show. We'll talk about a brief history of Collins Epic Wargames, the 5 games I've previously published, helping other publishers get started, Polyversal (a lot), and some future plans.
  • Combatant Design Tool Preview. Ken is working on an audio preview of the Combatant Design Tool and how you can use it to create your own Combatant Tiles (stat tiles) in Polyversal.

Thanks for your support!

I'm glad you dropped milestones, to many Kickstarters think it will be awesome to tie in Backer levels, Facebook likes etc but they dont work for me.

Id rather see a well thought out plan and decent stretch goals based off the ability for you to produce it based on time and money
