In 2016, thanks to the Kickstarter community, we successfully funded our most ambitious project ever: a reprinting of Alphonse Mucha's lost Symbolist Masterpiece, Le Pater.
Originally published in an edition of only 510 copies in 1899, the series of psychedelic artworks by the quintessential Art Nouveau artist was his deeply personal occult exploration of The Lord's Prayer, overflowing with androgyny, magick, and obscure mystical symbolism.
After twenty years of research and three years of writing, our enormous hardcover book - LE PATER: Alphonse Mucha's Symbolist Masterpiece and the Lineage of Mysticism - is finally being released in April of 2019, and to celebrate we are creating shirts, enamel pins, and canvas bags with Alphonse Mucha's incredibly rare illustration of the all-seeing Eye of Providence.
All the shirts are cotton/poly blend, tagless, and hand-silkscreened, and will be printed in men's and women's cuts in all sizes.
We are also making metal pins and book bags with Alphonse Mucha's Eye of Providence; the pin is 1.5" nickel and the bag is a heavy 12 oz. canvas to keep your books and belongings safely nestled.
The gigantic 12" x 16" hardcover book was envisioned at 100 pages, and across the past two years ballooned to its final count of a whopping 224 pages. The book provides an overview of mystical symbolism from the 14th century through 1900, and is profusely illustrated with many never-before-published artworks and photographs. All the images were documented at a magnificent high resolution to accommodate the enormous scale of the book, and spot varnished throughout.
LE PATER: Alphonse Mucha's Symbolist Masterpiece and the Lineage of Mysticism is the most beautiful art book that will be released this year, and is the most important book on metaphysical and Symbolist art in decades.
LE PATER Alphonse Mucha's Symbolist Masterpiece and the Lineage of Mysticism
A book exploring mystical symbolist art from Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528) to William Blake (1757-1827) and Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939), with stops at the Invisible College (1618) and Joséphin Péladan's legendary occult Salon Rose+Croix (1892).
The book also details the seances and metaphysical experiments conducted in Mucha's studio, and has chapters devoted to Bing's salon L'Art Nouveau and the Exposition Universelle of 1900. Profusely illustrated with grand two-page spreads, the book features a number of never-before-seen artworks and photographs and rarely seen artworks presented in a higher resolution than ever before.
