Gnomes come alive at midnight! Forage toadstools, bump rival gnomes, or dance in the garden. Keep your gnomes in the shadows between the shifting moonlight or else your gnomes will freeze still.

“The more you replay it the more you see the depth and how your strategy can grow in this game. I enjoyed it, it’s quick fast fun, I hope you get a chance to check it out.”
Tyler Anderson, Bearded Meeple Game Reviewer
"Gnomes at Midnight checks all the boxes I look for in a game. It's fast, fun, easy to learn, and makes you want to play again. Even if you just lost. Or maybe especially if you just lost so that you can get your payback!"
Joe Slack, Board Game Designer; and University Game Design and Development Teaching Instructor
“The game play is incredibly simple but has quite a bit of strategic depth, especially the more I play it. The art is beautiful. Kiri Østergaard Leonard is a talented artist with a lot of fantasy art in her portfolio so the game is a perfect fit.”
Matt Percy,Board Gamer Reviewer at Cardboard Koinonia
"Gnomes at Midnight is a great new game. I found it easy to learn, quick to play and it had good depth of strategy too. For the love of Gnomes, get this game."

Gnomes at Midnight will be available to backers on this Kickstarter site who provide us with an address in Canada, the United States, the European Union (EU friendly), Australia and New Zealand.
Manufacturers have given us timelines that would have the game printed, boxed and shrink-wrapped in August, 2019.
Your reward(s) will be shipped to the address that you provide us, through a professional global end-consumer fulfillment and shipping agency that includes the customs fees for Europe. We will not be attempting this ourselves, but have budgeted for professional packing and delivery to you by a reputable company.
Please keep in touch and read our upcoming updates and we'll let you know if anything changes and why.
Gnomes at Midnight was designed and developed by David Van Drunen, a professional game designer, living in Toronto, Canada.
David loves bringing people together around fun, exciting experiences. In his words:
"It’s so rewarding seeing an idea take shape into a game that people enjoy. I feel like a “Game-Smith”, crafting it out of raw meeples and cards.
Ever since I could roll dice I’ve been playing games, and losing to my older siblings. Like a lot of people, I started designing with some “house-rules”, then started creating whole new parts. After a while I realized I could just design a whole game straight from scratch.
My first game was an attempt to combine Risk with Settlers of Catan. It was an overly complicated failure, but I learned a lot from it.
Now my design process starts with a feeling, “Wouldn’t it be cool if?”
Gnomes at Midnight’s feeling was, “Wouldn’t it be cool if checker pieces could ‘hold-hands’ and move together; and if the board ‘changed’ as you played!”. I knew right away, I wanted gnomes scurrying around together; and eventually worked out the idea of shifting moonlight for a ‘changing’ board.
In the end, the incredibly supportive game design community helped me go from a prototype to a great game. It’s been amazing to connect with so many generous people who want every game to be it’s best. (Thank you all for your time, experience, and support!)"
Many others deserve so much credit too:
The box top illustration was commission from Kiri Østergaard Leonard. Kiri is a professional artist originally from Denmark and living in Austin, Texas; and is a famous Gnomie with a large body of Gnome work to her name. We can't wait to see future Gnomes that may come out during 'Gnomevember'.
Michael Christopher, a professional board game art designer with several games to his art portfolio including 'Centrix', created all the components and the box layout, with inspiration from Kiri's main illustration. Michael is a gem.
Along with the support and input from many friends and family members, Gnomes at Midnight also benefited from the play testing venues made possible by: Board Game Bliss, 401 Games, Proto T.O. and Snakes and Lattes.
Also, many play testers generously gave their time and shared their feedback, which subsequently translated into game play improvements, making the game what it is today.
We think that you'll love this unique, fun, new tabletop board game, and we need support in making this a reality so we're here on Kickstarter, seeking crowdfunding in the amount of CA$12,750 (or about US$9,800).
If you help us successfully reach this goal, then we can start production almost immediately and the funds will be allocated, as follows:
Please pledge, comment, and share this page! Let's do this together!
Q. Some pictures have wooden meeple gnomes and others look like 3D mini figures. What does the game come with?
A. The base game includes 10 wooden 'meeple' gnomes, 5 of each color; we wanted to keep production costs reasonable. If the project is funded over over the target amount, then we'll have the budget for a 3D molded mini Gnome figure and will upgrade the game, switching out the wooden Gnomes.
Risks and challenges
The key risks associated with this project relate to manufacturing, shipping and fulfillment.
For that reason, we have contacted only reputable, experienced board game printers in obtaining accurate manufacturing quotes and will use established shippers and fulfillment agencies capable of handling multiple board game shipping and fulfillment to all destinations that we support in this Kickstarter campaign.
In addition to being board game designers, we are experienced business professionals and fully prepared for anything to go wrong, but are confident that we can step in quickly to find solutions in delivering what we promise to our backers, in that eventuality.
We are passionately driven to bring this board game to the world and are mature and experienced to know that our proper execution of the plan starts for real, once fully funded.
