Besides slinging spells with these two opposing forces and fun color combinations for the board, depending on which factions you play with, Gnomes and Wizards offers a couple of unique mechanic combos that haven't been seen in many tabletop games.
Another unique element that we worked into this game is that we incorporated little to no waste of a person's turn. There are always other actions to fall back on, even if the dice rolls don't go the way you want them to. Because you are allocating dice results to mostly increase existing stats, you are never unable to do anything on your turn, unless of course, your enemies have been targeting you with a ton of sleep spells. Even attacking always has a benefit. Damage never gets completely blocked but may be reduced based on the defense value so even low attack values can be worth your efforts.
Probably the most important touch to us is the play accessibility. If you ever played combat-style games, you know it can be daunting because there are tons of rules that can be convoluted and it is typically a big time commitment. There has definitely been an improvement in the genre within the last few years but we wanted to be able to have a game that was simple enough for families to bring to the table and enjoy while still providing an experience for veteran gamers who will have heaps of fun playing on game night.
