Caught is a crime drama where three actresses play six contrasting characters. This is a new play about six young women’s journey through criminal justice, challenging expectations about betrayal, sexuality and deceit.
Six Characters. Three Actresses. One murder.
"A murder can be tricky. An accidental murder will leave traces. This case however was clever, planned. Modern forensics can trace anyone from the smallest molecule of hair or flake of skin. But for this case, we have nothing. Whoever did this, whoever killed Emily, knew exactly what they were doing."
Detective Acton must question five unruly suspects to find Emily's killer before it is too late.
I wrote Caught with strong female roles in mind as I felt that there were not enough challenging roles for women in theatre.
Our process so far has involved interviewing senior police officers and workshopping the play. But if we are to bring Caught to the stage, we need your support. We want to invite you to join our community and play a part in its success.
MAKING IT HAPPEN
Caught will open at the Pleasance Theatre from the 2nd September 2015.
Ready and raring to go, our cast and crew are passionate about bring this contemporary, all-female play to modern audiences, showing that women can play gritty lead roles.
Producing a fringe show usually costs at least £5000, which would be impossible for us. However the Pleasance are so keen to support Caught that they have given us a huge discount and everyone is volunteering their time, so we only need to raise £1500, which will pay for essentials like the set, costumes and props.
There are rewards to suit everyone starting at £2 - see the list on the right for the complete range.
The cast have all worked together on previous projects and have come together through the common interest in creating exciting contemporary theatre for women.
