About this project
Can you tell us a bit more about the story?
Prince & Ekaj is a story about two gay latino teenagers who are completely different from each other. One is a runaway teenager, and the other is a self-taught street hustler who spends his time wandering the streets of NYC at night looking for ways to make money. They both meet by chance and end up realizing that they depend on one another more than they think in a city that is full of crime, drugs, prostitution, and of course, hope.
In today's society, there is a lot of hatred and bullying directed towards young teens who are attacked because they are gay, and we rarely hear or see what these kids have to go through on an every-day level just to be who they are. This story was truly inspired by all of these young gay hustler kids from New York City who struggle with these issues, but at the same time overcome them through perseverance.
By helping us fund this project we will be able to bring to you an intriguing story dense with emotion and truth embedding.
How does Kickstarter work and how can I contribute?
Well, it works like this: You can pledge any amount of money by clicking on to the green "Back this project" button on the upper right hand corner and in exchange, we reward you with a great deal of gratitude and really cool gifts for each of your contributions.
If we raise the minimum amount in donations by the end of our "Kickstarter" campaign, your credit/debit cards will be charged and we will receive funding for our project.
However, every project on "Kickstarter" must be fully funded and if we do not succeed in raising the funds by the expiration date, we do not receive ANY of the money pledged up to that point. Your credit/debit card will not be charged, and the film will not go into production.
So please contribute whatever amount you can, and join us in reaching our target!
If you look to your right, you can see the rewards that we're offering you for supporting our project, and of course, the more you pledge the cooler the gifts!
What is our project goal?
We already have a commitment for over 1/3 of what we will need to make the movie, and we are here on "Kickstarter" to raise the additional funds necessary to complete our project. You're probably asking yourselves why we request so low of a figure. We would like to raise more than the amount we are asking for but we are trying to be conservative about it, so we've set our minimum amount to $30,000 so if we do exceed our goal we can raise our expectations even higher.
So why should you help us make this film?
Because we want to bring to light a movie that we so much believe in. We want to make a movie about two individuals, not a film about two gays but about two human beings. We are putting all of our hearts into this so that we can be able show it to every one, and in order for us to complete the full making of the film, we need to raise the minimum amount of $30,000 that will cover minimum expenses such as cameras, lenses, tripods, lighting equipment, professional color correction, sound operator, assistants, and other bare essentials that come with creating a film.
If we happen to exceed the minimum amount needed to fund this project, it will definitely make the production, and viewing experience of this film so much sweeter!

I worked with Cati Gonzalez several times and have know her for many years. She has always astounded me with her amazing talent to turn a single still image into a story. So it's no surprise to me that she has picked up a video camera to express herself. The richness of her photography is now being expressed through dialogue and the moving image. Her work like herself is full of extraordinarily complex emotions both harsh and gentle. And beautiful. Can't forget beautiful. If you can help her tell this story, please do. - Frank Gargiulo
"Was blown away by how great it looks, all of it, the statement, the look of the scenes, the acting, the vision". - Jose Yenque, Actor/Producer/Director
This is absolutely great! Mad Cool. Everyone in the Fashion and Model Agency Industry should see / support it. - Idoll Magazine
Prince & Ekaj is a film and video project by Cati and Mike Gonzalez, following young street hustlers on the streets of NYC. That may mislead you into thinking "we've seen this before," but give the Kickstarter a chance—the acting is non-existent. Not that this is a documentary, but the inexperienced actors, in the limited clips, make their characters seem so legit it's almost like watching a documentary. The only giveaway is the impressive style, yet that's often present naturally in situations like these so I didn't see it as a strike.

Nothing. If funding is unsuccessful, all pledges are canceled and that's that.

Yes! Anyone, anywhere (with a major credit card) can pledge to Kickstarter projects.
Kickstarter uses Amazon's Flexible Payments Service, which enables our all-or-nothing funding method. No other credit card processor currently supports our requirements. We're always talking with other companies and exploring other services, so expect more options in the future.
Project creators will send you an email survey to request any info they need to deliver you and your fellow backers’ rewards, such as your mailing address or other details.
Surveys are sent only after a project has been successfully funded. Some creators send surveys immediately, others wait until they’re ready to deliver rewards. If you think you might have missed a survey email, please log in to your Kickstarter account to check — you’ll see a notification at the top of the site for any missed surveys.
Visit the project page and click “Manage Your Pledge.” Enter a new amount in the pledge amount box. Note that you are not adding to your existing pledge; the amount you enter will be the total amount collected if the project is successfully funded.
