About this project
In the beginning of 2011, I began painting a new art series called, "Cannabis Art Oil Paintings," where I combine my two passions: cannabis (the subject) and oil painting (the medium). My mission is to exemplify the cannabis plant in a positive light. With the long battle of legalizing cannabis (aka marijuana, ganja, dank, mary jane, etc.), I thought I could make an impact using my art without having to force my political views onto others. I believe each side has its valid points of view, however I strongly believe in safe access for medical marijuana patients, as well as a person's right to choose how to live their life.
My cannabis art oil paintings show the simple aesthetic beauty of the plant. With the use of my painting techniques and style, my goal is to create a visual experience on canvas for the viewer. If you ever get a chance to see a budding cannabis plant in person, you may appreciate the unique visual characteristics, and its beautiful aroma.
My Art Goal for 2013 is to paint:
2 - 3X4ft oil on canvas, depicting a canopy of cannabis plants
10 - 15X30in oil on canvas, depicting cannabis sensimilla (budding female without seeds)
18 - 6X6in oil on canvas, depicting mini bud cannabis plants
And to co-curate a 420-themed art event and bazaar. I would like to hand select 2-3 other cannabis artists to display art at a local gallery that I am currently affiliated with. I will invite medical marijuana magazines, dispensaries, non-profit organizations, and other 420-themed businesses to display their products and services in designated tented booths. There will be live music and food catered for guests.
Materials and Supplies Needed:
Wood furring strips
1 1/2" wood screws
Brushes and palette knives
Saw tooth hangers
420 Event Wish List:

Risks and challenges
The risks and challenges that I face are 1. not being able to raise enough funds to throw a successful 420 event, and 2. not accomplishing my art goals on time. How I will overcome these challenges is to start planning ahead. I will begin by contacting local businesses and artists that will commit to participating in the 420 event. And I will begin painting original artworks immediately to give myself enough time to reach my art goals.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
