Did you know that Mary Magdalene was a scholar? Did you know that Isis was the most powerful deity of ancient Egypt and her name meant female of the throne? Did you know that the mysterious Queen of Sheba was a popular religious symbol in medieval Christian mystical works? Did you know that the name Eve means "living?" Do you know the stories behind Ishtar, Delilah, the Sirens, Joan of Arc, the Virgin Mary, Arya Tara, Kali and future thinking- the Singularity?

Catherine Capozzi
Catherine Capozzi

Hi, I’m Catherine Capozzi and today I’m inviting you to participate in an exciting adventure, called BRING US YOUR WOMEN.  It’s a film anthology (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3638542), studio album and live multimedia music and dance performance dedicated to women and the pursuit of divinity and freedom. The essence of this work expresses the power of three - unity, tolerance, hope. We are raising money and need your help to cover production costs for studio time to record 15 songs with the Axemunkestra and an anthology of films to accompany those songs created by award-winning international filmmakers. These two project will be unveiled on February 27th, 2015 in a live-performance multimedia event.

This project seeks to tell existing and re-imagined stories of historic and mythical individuals, each presenting a message of humanity that transcends gender and religion. I am deeply passionate about these stories because of their relevance to our world today.  These stories deserve to be told but can’t be told without your help.

Featured artists for BUYW include an international cast from NYC, Boston, Amsterdam, Geneva, Paris, and more!

Sophia Cacciola and Michael J. Epstein

BUYW Producers Sophia Cacciola and Michael J. Epstein are Somerville, MA based filmmakers, musicians, and rabble rousers. After years with their bands, the no-wave art-rock Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling, garage-surf Darling Pet Munkee, and indie ensemble The Michael J. Epstein Memorial Library, the pair took their love of film and their experience making music videos and created their crowdfunded debut feature, the surrealistic, avant-mystery thriller TEN. The film is now on a 2014 world-wide film festival tour with plans for a 2015 public release. They also recently wrapped principal photography on their second feature, a psychological sci-fi trip, MAGNETIC.

Budget Breakdown:

The proposed budget of $15,000 is the minimum necessary to cover the costs associated with this endeavor.

Music recording and mastering: $8000

Film production cost: $4000 (10 filmmakers at $400 each)
Graphic design for project materials, CDs, DVDs: $1000
Kickstarter fees and reward fulfillment: $2000

Total: $15,000

In an ideal world, we will be able to exceed our goal and compensate the musicians, the artists, and others involved with the creative aspects of the project.

Risks and challenges

Working with such a varied cast of artists from different geographic locations is tricky to manage. There is the chance that some of them may not be able to complete their chosen short film in the time frame. We have additional standby artists and performers to fill in any gaps.

There is potential for recording production costs to be higher than what is budgeted, but we have extensive experience budgeting and completing the production of recordings of a similar scale. We are also budgeting based on specific studio quotes provided for the project.
