Thank you for your support. Using Kickstarter for the first time has been a good experience and a learning experience as well.

Remember you can still back my project for a reward even if I've reach the goal and any extra funds I have left over will either go to unexpected costs (such as transporting the framed photos. I don't know why it didn't dawn on me that I would need to hire a camioneta to move large framed photos) or toward an exhibit I'll be having in Colonia, Uruguay in November 2011 (exhibiting photos from Everyday People). Regardless, any funds not used for this exhibit will be used to create more art and upcoming shows.

Thank you again.

****PLEASE SEE UPDATES FOR THE MOST RECENT NEWS REGARDING THE PROJECT****

I will be showing 8 images from the photography project, Avantgarb{age}, The Art in Wearing Trash, at ICANA, Instituto Cultural Argentina Norteamericano in Belgrano, Buenos Aires, Argentina. ICANA (www.icana.org.ar) is a non-profit association promoting cultural interchange between Argentina and the United States. They had an artist pull out at the last minute opening an opportunity for me to exhibit during the month of April.

The money I raise will be used to cover the cost of printing and framing the photographs. I plan to print the photos at 1 meter x 65 cm (@ 40 x 26 inches), and with the highest art quality printing available to produce the best reproduction of the color and saturation. Money will also be used to print fliers - on recycled paper - for the exhibit and any marketing I will need to do.

In teaming up with Argentinian designer Aidana Baldassarre, I chose to use urban backgrounds and stark lighting in the photography and creative post processing to accentuate the edginess of the designs. The choice of models was also thought out. Each piece is worn by men and women without modeling experience. I like to call them non-models. The purpose of this was two-fold: to promote healthy body types and reinforce that recycling and this art is for everyone. I will also be pairing several of the photos with articles of clothing so viewers have the opportunity to touch and see the designs in the images.

The departure from my documentary style, in this project, offered me space to reconnect with my creativity and think outside the bounds of photojournalism. The common thread in all my work is a desire to express - through photography - humanity and how we interact with each other and our world.

You can see all of the final project photos on my website here. Or take a look at the exhibit shortlist And you can follow the project on Facebook.

Thank you for your support.
