I am seeking funding for Volume 2 of my Secret Museum of Kind Men 7" Series. Modern interpretations of classic ethnographic recordings!
Hello. With your support and pre-sales from this Kickstarter campaign I'll be able to release The Secret Museum of Kind Men Vol. II. I need to raise funds to pay the recording engineer for tracking, mixing and mastering. I also need to press the records, pay for graphic design, layout, screen printing, and paper for the covers, poly sleeves, etc. The list goes on.....
Pre-ordering records in this way makes it all possible and allows for the flowing of creative energy rather than stagnation. I encourage any die- hard fans of this sort of "exploratory music" to pitch in. Records can live on as art, even as the digital world devalues so many tangible things. I believe in the transformative power of music and the value of holding an incredible record in my hands, soaking in the visuals of the art and putting the needle to the record and letting it carry me away. Many thanks to all who are able to help out and who are excited for the final result of this endeavor. Please share this project with others who may be interested!
The music and art for Volume II will be created by my good friend Turner Williams Jr., under the name Ramble Tamble. He will be collaborating with fellow bandmates from his amazing band Guardian Alien and others from the deep Brooklyn underground. Bassist, Eli Winograd will be recording the tracks and I can expect nothing but the best from these hyper-talented cats.
Volume 1 was incredibly well received. It was recorded by a group I put together and played in with my good friends in New York and Los Angeles, and we called the group Gongtrain for this one-off recording. It was the first proper release from my Casual Acid Tea Recordings label and the birth of this concept. The idea is to record modern interpretations of old ethnographic field recordings from the 1920's to 40's and release them as a collectable series of 7" records. The Secret Museum of Kind Men Vol. 1 really resonated with a lot of folks and we received stellar reviews from the Wire, Record Collector, Aquarius, and recieved heavy airplay from WFMU, KFJC, and other fine free form radio stations.
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
This record and the rewards will be delivered because it is my dream and passion to do so. Money is the only minor obstacle in this situation and with these funds all will fall into place.
I have experience with Kickstarter, funding one previous project without any hitches or glitches. I also have worked to release a lot of music over the years in various capacities and I know how to get it done. And I'm collaborating with great folks on this.
