This is a project about building castles. It's a project about tearing those castles down. Then building them again. Or building something else. This is a project about you being in control of the buildings you use in your games.
We've been playing RPGs for over 60 years combined (oh MAN we're old!) and we wanted to create a system that did the stuff no other system does. Castle! is:
- Fully modular - invest once and get a set of elements to infinitely redesign your castle to meet all your castle/tower/dungeon needs every session.
- Multiple Levels - that's right! For the first time ever, build a tower with unique rooms on each level! Easily unveil each level as the players progress through your creation.
- Durable - our patented peg system means that you can build your castle at home and then transport it without the castle collapsing.
- Quality - we have partnered with a quality manufacturer to bring you castle walls made from solid resin, not light hollow plastic.
- Realistic - with textures based on real stone and wood, our walls and floors look natural.
This is a 19 year long labor of love. We kickstarted this six years ago and thought the campaign was going to hit its goal (we were 90% of the way there within a couple of weeks). But we realized that everything was too complicated.
By this point we had been working on the product for twelve years and could see there was a real possibility you weren’t going to get the very best from us and the project. So we pulled the plug.
And then we waited. And then some life got in the way. Jeremy built a house, from scratch, with his bare hands.
However, last October William met someone who had an absolutely rock solid toy manufacturing contact. So in November, William went to Chicago. And that was it. He was sure. There was no question. The guys in Chicago had all the answers. And I mean, ALL the answers. There was nothing William came up with that they didn't have a plan for. And they make HIGH END toys, so they understood when he said that he was more interested in extremely high quality than in the lowest possible price.
So that was it. We decided to re-launch.
Here's what we learned last time:
You wanted to see more product. In the past six years, 3D printing has matured to the place where we could make better pieces with more variety. You will see it in this campaign, on our website, on our FB page, on Instagram. Look around and you'll see William stacking it in his lab coat or Jeremy working with it and putting it on terrain.
We made it too complicated last time. Man. We don't even know what we were thinking. Actually, we were trying to make sure we could give you SOMETHING even if the Kickstarter just barely made it. And we were convinced that we just HAD to have a kit at a $20 price point. Boy were we WRONG. So, we simplified it. We have six kits. They're extremely well made. They range in price. We have zero doubt that we can make this for this price if we meet our goal.
We hadn't been able to personally meet our manufacturer. Well, this time we have. Multiple times in person as well as being in constant contact for a year. And our new partner has been to their factory. They are legit. Full stop. So we have zero doubts about quality and ability to deliver. This thing gets funded: you get product. It's that simple. All we need now is YOUR help. Whether you pledge for a Nobility level or only get a coin, everything you contribute gets us closer to turning our nineteen year dream and work into reality

A quick demonstration of our earlier prototype of the Keep and converting it into a Barbicon.
Shire Post Mint will be making the solid metal coin for this campaign, included in all levels $9 and above. They are based in Springdale, Arkansas and specialize in historical coin making techniques.
- Hand-engraved design: stylish Castle Foundry logo on one side and YOUR FACE or sigil on the other (if you back at the Emperor level)
- Stamped one at a time on antique machinery
- Solid metal (do you prefer copper or brass - let us know in the comments!)
Here's the curtain wall as we built it.
But that's not the only thing you can build. Checkout this reconfigure of the same parts. We added some wall topper to this, but we will probably end up adding that to the kits.
Risks and challenges
The only major risk is timeline. As long as this funds, you get product. However, one thing we learned last time was about major holidays in China. We have built in enough time to get manufacturing done BEFORE the Chinese New Year Celebrations.
We've already put a down payment on a couple of our injection molds. Those are VERY expensive, but we wanted to go ahead and get those started.
Other than that, after 19 years of work and planning, we feel like we have this pretty locked down.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
