About

After two attempts at game-making, Paul Nashert had all but forgotten about his aspirations for board game glory.  Then a chance conversation with an inventor reignited Paul’s passion to create a three-dimensional board game.  As an engineer with limited artistic ability, Paul enlisted the help of his daughter Ava to bring the board game to life. Ava is a nine-year-old aspiring architect with a keen eye for quality artistic design.

Together Paul and Ava, in the span of one four-day weekend, created the concept that is now Castle Board Game.

Paul then called on his college roommate, Ben Stark, to create the prototype board. Ben and his brother Danny put their world-class carpentry abilities to work to create the first board, while Paul and Ava used solid modeling software and a 3D printer to create the playing pieces. Research was conducted to name the playing pieces to fit the medieval theme. The game was then beta tested at a family reunion, and the rules were refined.

The Castle Stark Beta Board

In the past year, the Castle Board Game operation has ignited, and Paul’s wife Stephanie, a successful retail manager has been enlisted to assist with the operations of Castle Board Game. Stephanie managed several multimillion dollar retail stores  before stepping down from her career to raise her young children.

Without the help of a publisher and with limited financial resources, the game has come to life and was unveiled at GenCon 2019, which is - most conveniently - located in the Nashert’s hometown of Indianapolis.
