"Writer-director Casper Andreas has crafted a sexy but also funny and wise squinty-eyed look at Tinseltown, from the seductive side to the seedy (often one and the same), from the glamour to the pitfalls." - Dallas Voice
"Going Down in La-La Land truly captures what Los Angeles can be. To some it’s a fairy tale filled with insane opportunities and to others it’s a wasteland that sucks the meat from your bones. There are dark aspects, dangers but also triumphs and heartfelt relationships. It’s a complex film that will take you on a journey through the gutter and then out again, hopefully, no worse for wear." -Edge BostonTHE GOAL
Going Down In LA-LA Land is my best film to date, so, understandably, I want to give it the biggest release possible and share it with as many people as I can. Unfortunately, there are few distributors willing to take a chance on releasing a gay-themed film in theatres. But we – everyone involved in the project – are confident in the film from its success on the festival circuit, and we want to see the film on the big screen where it belongs! Our New York theatrical opening is scheduled for April 20th.
The money we raise here on Kickstarter will go towards prints, trailers, and movie posters for the theaters, PR and advertising so that we can spread the word on screenings. The film will also be released on various sites like iTunes, Amazon streaming, and Netflix streaming – but, of course, it is costly to prepare the assorted digital formats that they each need.
I have also decided to self-distribute the Blu-ray and DVD, which means that I will have the discs authored and pressed, and that I will sell them to consumers directly on websites like Amazon and to stores across the country. Of course, I want the Blu-rays and DVDs to have the highest possible quality and come loaded with fun extras, including deleted scenes, outtakes, behind-the-scenes featurettes, commentary, Closed Captioning, and with optional subtitles in English, Spanish, French, and Swedish. A portion of the funds raised will go towards manufacturing costs, as well as a national marketing campaign for the DVD and video-on-demand release.
To show our appreciation for your support, we are offering some great incentives. Check out the rewards section to the right -- bigger pledges mean bigger rewards!
If we reach our goal by the deadline, your credit card is charged, we get our funding, and you get the rewards. If we don't reach our goal by the deadline, your credit card is not charged, and sadly you don't get the rewards.
It's okay to exceed our goal (in which case we would bring the film to even more cities) but it's NOT okay to make even a penny less than our goal.
So please make a pledge, then help spread the word to all your friends!
