About this project
WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT?
CARRY YOU ON is an album of 10 original, story-based songs I wrote with the goal of amplifying the need to bridge the disconnect between civilians & military veterans.
ALL of the lyrics are inspired by conversations with civilians, active-duty service members, veterans and their families. They are the driving force behind this movement to #bridgethegap.
“It is our duty to engage with every vet of every age to help with conscience clear, to let ‘em know we’re here.”
- lyrics from “That’s My Dad”
By funding this project you'll help us make sure the needs of veterans are constantly a part of the national conversation. This album will serve as the cornerstone of our efforts!
*UPDATE* 50% of album sales will be donated to IAVA! (Iraq + Afghanistan Veterans of America)
THE MESSAGE OF THE MUSIC
Click here to watch Ilario Pantano, renowned Marine veteran & author of Warlords, along with other civilians and veterans, explain the importance of our project...
Check out this LIVE performance video clip from the Benefit Concert on 9/11/16, where we helped raise $1,000 for IAVA! (Iraq Afghanistan Veterans of America) This song, “Cassandra Knows,” is about a woman coming to terms with her decision to leave her husband and join the marines after losing family on 9/11

BEHIND THE SONGS
This is a story about a civilian husband who tells his wife, “if you’re gonna leave us and risk your life, you better earn your time away.”
That’s My Dad
This song highlights the different perspective of the veteran-civilian relationship from when I was growing up versus how kids (and adults) view veterans today.
“It is our duty to engage with every vet of every age, to help their conscience clear, to let ‘em know we’re here.” - lyric quote
Carry You On
As the lyrics say, it is the civilians’ turn to carry our veterans on into the next chapter of their lives and to do our part to ease that transition. “You’ve been gone for so long, patient and strong, now it’s our turn to carry you on.” - lyric quote
This explores a woman coming to terms with her decision to leave her husband and join the marines after losing family on 9/11.
Come Home America
This song expresses the great need for civilians to not only honor our service members, but truly appreciate and understand the depth of their training, the strength of their morals and the incomparable value they contribute to our society. All this, alongside an overwhelming desire for our service men and women to come home and for wartime to be gone. “And to the soldiers who have died, we bear your name.” - lyric quote
The Difference You Make
This song offers the veteran and active duty service members’ perspective towards civilians who are more helpful than they realize.
I’m Coming Home
After 7 years stationed around the world and away from family, a service member is awakened, ordered to pack up and ship out. Expecting to be be transferred yet another time, he instead discovers that he is finally coming home. Sometimes I Wish This song is meant to illustrate the concept of survivor’s guilt and how many veterans struggle moving on in their lives without those who served by their side.
“Sometimes I wish that it were me instead of them” - lyric quote
A Soldier’s Waltz
A story of a soldier who misses his son.
Song For Peace
This song is meant to deepen the understanding of what a military family goes through and bring people together around a hopeful message of peace.
“Every soldier needs a shoulder, don’t fear them, just hear them.” - lyric quote

MORE LIVE MUSIC!
"I'm Coming Home"
After being asked to write a song for a 9/11 compilation CD to honor those we lost. I realized there was much more that needed to be said, and done. I began writing songs about the military lifestyle, the veteran experience and the civilian perspective as well.
What They're Saying About Carry You On:
“Rousing and unifying.” - AXS.com (AEG Live)
“Marcus Goldhaber has a precious vision to embrace and support our troops and veterans with his rousing anthem as the soundtrack. It’s the start of a movement, and being on the ground floor we stand tall in not only participating, but urging everyone to join with us as it spreads across the country.” - Joseph P. Brooks, President & COO, Liberty USO
“’Come Home America’ is a great song for Vets Day or any day.” - Don Wolff, Host of “I love jazz”
“A peaceful plea for peace.” - O’s Place Jazz Magazine
“Poignant and emotional...Have the tissues ready, because you are going to need them.” - AllVoices.com
“Sure to become a patriotic standard for the new millennia.” - The Jewish Journal
"Marcus Goldhaber's passion for uniting veterans and civilians [was] vividly apparent [when he] graciously performed at the dedication of Veterans Square Monument, Yardley, PA, in November 2014, and again for a Labor Day fundraiser this past September. His soul and honesty shine through when he sings, and brought tears to my eyes the first time I heard it. I am so pleased he will be singing...in the Big Apple for the NYC Veterans Parade!" - Kathy Kraeck, Vice President, Veterans Square Foundation, Creators of Veterans Square Monument, VeteransSquare.org. Oct 2015
I have never been a part of a more meaningful music project in my life...everyone has a stake in this mission and so it’s only fitting that we all combine our efforts to make this project happen!
Please help fund this Kickstarter campaign so we can bridge this disconnect together!
My heartfelt thanks!
Risks and challenges
During the recording process, there are always surprises and there is always the chance that a certain phase may take longer or cost a bit more than expected. A recording may require an unexpected last minute overdub, a musician might get sick and force us to pay a studio cancellation fee or the artwork might take a bit longer for the production house to correctly match the intended design, forcing an additional few rounds of proofs.
To prepare for this, we have built in an appropriate portion of our budget to act as contingency funds for those exact unforeseen obstacles that might just pop up out of nowhere. Please take a look at our delicious budget pie for details and thank you again for your amazing support!!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
