Based off of our imagination and real life experiences, "Backwoods Horror" (working title) is our first major short film.
What is "Backwoods Horror?"
"Backwoods Horror" is the working title for our very first short film. Set in a backwoods, small town the story will follow a young group of teenagers who find out the hard way of the truth in "curiosity killed the cat".
Why back us?
As college students, we're growing and budding with creativity and the fascination of the world beyond us. As a result of that, we've always wanted to put together a short film to show not only ourselves but the world of our creative potential as growing artists, writers, and film makers. But currently our budget doesn't allow such things to happen.
With the help of you - the community - and the awesome platform "Kickstarter", you can help us bring out our best work by providing us with money for actors, food, gas, locations, props, and all the other small stuff that comes with creating a film.
Your backer rewards aren't too great.. why?
Seeing as this is our first attempt at ever doing something like this, we're trying our best to give you - our backers - the best reward we can besides seeing your money put to good use in a fantastic production. We'd love to give you free screenings, hotel rooms, t-shirts, and other fancy things, but we're just not that "big" yet to be able to do something like that.
We still hope you consider!
But why you? Where do you come from?
I started my video "career" on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/carryoutjon) about two years ago creating daily video blogs about my every day life. I took a handheld HD camera with me and just simply talked - for almost two years straight - to a growing audience on my channel.
I soon branched out with my good friend Zach Schrad (seen in the two clips in the video) in creating short sketch comedy (as seen on http://www.youtube.com/gopherbronze). He did most of the writing, while I did most of the film work (post production). As more friends got interested, we started making more and more skits.
But video blogs and short sketches have become too much of a norm for us. We'd like to finally put our foot down on more serious films, and finally put our film making abilities to the test.
So we're just buying food and props?
Essentially, yes. Over the years my parents have generously supported me in my growing video making habits my supplying me with film equipment such as a Canon 7D, studio lighting, iMac, Final Cut editing software, and microphones. With all this equipment I feel like my team could put together a real masterpiece - but not the gourmet kind.
The money that you will contributing - as mentioned in the video - will buy actors, props, locations, gas for transport, food, and other small things that come along the way.
I really hope that you back this project! This would mean a lot to us to finally have small financial aid in the creation of this film, and to be able to give you - the backers and community - exactly what you want and have been waiting for!
Have a question? If the info above doesn't help, you can ask the project creator directly.
