Very rarely does an album come along that feels both familiar and new, nostalgic and forward-looking in the same breath. Certainly an ambitious goal for a band's first album, Carrousel began officially tracking what is to become their debut in June of 2010. But that was far from the beginning. Initial songwriting and demos took place as early as spring of 2008, a process that proved equally strenuous and rewarding. What came from it was a refined sound, a certain maturity that comes only with time.
Carrousel's sound is a study in contrasts: a contrast of old sounds and new, organic and synthetic, dreamlike and haunting. The overall effect is one of movement, a transporting of sorts, from the ordinary to extraordinary. From reality to dreamworld and then back again. It is an open canvas, with any number of colors splashed onto it, evoking various impressions.
Carrousel has finished tracking the album, and are now mixing the songs in their home studio. However, their goal is to take it elsewhere, to make a grand opus of the mess that was made in these year-long sessions.
You can be a part of it, making their vision a reality. The money you contribute will go straight to the completion of the album, which requires further studio mixing and mastering.
Carrousel is thrilled to share this work with you, and honored that you would consider helping in any way.
We've had a few questions in regards to international shipping for the album. It will be an extra cost of $8 USD. Therefore, if you are an international supporter and are pledging for the album presale perk please contribute $18 USD instead of $10. In addition please send us a kickstarter message letting us know this so we can set the extra $8 aside for extra shipping costs. If you are an international supporter pledging for perks other than the album presale, please contact us via kickstarter message for extra shipping costs.
Carrousel is a dream-pop folk band from Tallahassee, FL. Members Joel Piedt and Brad Harris formed the band in the summer of 2009.
The album is projected to be completed and released by early fall, 2011.
The money will be used to take the songs to a studio, where the band will finish mixing and mastering them with a hired engineer.
Unfortunately, if they projected goal is not reached, the band does not receive any of the funds. Consequently, pledges will not be taken from donors' bank accounts.
