About

Introduction

Greetings and salutations fellow card enthusiasts!

Welcome to my project and thanks for looking... Basically, this is something I have been toying with for quite a few years, but never had the time to change the idea into a reality. (I was also unaware of Kickstarter until recently).

Apologies for the cringe worthy video of me, but as you'll see - I'm just a normal guy, trying to catch a break (so try not to judge lol).

Aims & Objectives

The aim of this project is to fund a run of an original 54 card deck, which features original artwork. All illustrations are complete and a sample deck was produced to check for errors and ensure the best possible print quality.

Funding for the project will go directly to printing and other production costs, as well as covering Kickstarter rewards, overheads and shipping. Any funding past the stated target will go towards the creation of future projects - trust me, I have a few in the pipeline!

The creative vision

I love the Art Deco design movement of the 20's, 30's and 40's (not sure why, but that's beside the point right now). I also feel that aces can and should be one of the most appealing cards in the deck. Picture cards are all well and good, but you ask any poker player out there and he / she will happily tell you which cards they long to see in their hand...

So what if your entire hand could have the simple, but effective beauty of the four aces? Well now it can!

My ultimate goal is to obviously raise enough funds to get the deck professionally printed, but I would also like to garner some valuable feedback from collectors, professionals (i.e. magicians) and fellow designers. Please keep it constructive (and friendly), I'm not here to be abused or trolled or whatever the heck they call it these days.

As far as I can establish, there aren't any other decks out there like this one. On the other hand - if there are other interpretations on the market - so what? I am well aware that there are probably fancier and increasingly intricate packs out there, but that's not the Deco way and it certainly isn't mine.

What next?

If you like, please pledge. If you don't, move on... It's as simple as that my friends...

If you can appreciate my efforts and like what you see, feel free to support my project. I will be eternally grateful and promise (time permitting) to produce more designs in the future...

All the best,

Adam. (of Carrion Cards - just a name I came up with for my little venture. Named after the crow, not the road kill!)

P.S: I don't have a website up and running yet, because card design is still very new to me and I have a fairly demanding day job. I have however, studied and worked in the print media industry for over seven years, so if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me instead. I'll do my utmost to put to rest any issues you may have! ;)

Risks and challenges

I suppose the first issue for me to overcome will be the fact that I am new to all this. Hopefully I will catch on quick though and can rely on the help and advice of existing Kickstarter project creators and backers :)

If my rewards (or anything else for that matter) seem out of line in any way, please understand that this is purely inexperience on my part and nothing deliberately underhand...

Quantity and supply versus demand:

The estimated amount I believe I would need to successfully produce the product (to a quantity of 1,000 packs) has been calculated using the price list from makeplayingcards.com.

If the worst comes to the worst and we don't reach the target, I will at least know how popular my work is and hopefully where I can improve to ensure success in the future.

Reward fulfilment:

Supply of the decks is strictly first come, first served. If I run out of packs before your position on the backers list, I will either try and reimburse your money or add you to a waiting list for a second run (if demand is high enough / it is economically viable for me to do so).

Priority will be given to backers who have chosen a higher value reward, as this is only fair.

All art and formatting for the deck is complete with the exception of any unforeseen issues on the printer's end... A sample deck has been successfully printed by makeplayingcards.com as a quality control measure and I am pleased to report that no issues were discovered as a result of this test and the deck looks - in my opinion - great :)

As with any product manufactured overseas, it is possible that there may be setbacks with production or shipping. Both of these factors will inevitably delay the final product, but should this occur I will endeavour to keep backers up-to-date and in the know as regular as is appropriate.
