Cora O'Sullivan was raised from a very young age by her father, Martin, to become a mercenary like him. After years of working for him killing, Cora realized she was unhappy doing the dirty work. She secretly began a relationship with a young scientist named David Winters and hopelessly fell in love. Against her father's wishes, she leaves the business to pursue her relationship and dream job running a bakery.
Now, on the day she plans to propose to her beloved, David is kidnapped by an old enemy of hers. Cora reaches to her father for help and embarks upon a rescue mission. Things are not as they seem, and Cora will have to make a final choice as to what she wants most in life.
Cora has to make the difficult decision as to what she believes is best for her life, as filmmakers we have also made a choice as to what is best for our project. In the fast accelerating digital age of cinema, shooting a movie on film is still the golden standard for picture quality and color. This ultra high definition medium still produces an image that no digital camera has achieved.
Film has a softer, more gradient texture than digital, with deep rich blacks and brilliant whites. This aesthetic choice mirrors the choices Cora makes as she leaves the harsh world of her previous life, to the warm soft and ultimately happy life as a baker.
The goal of our Kickstarter is to raise enough finances to shoot our picture on film. The cheaper alternative to shooting on digital is simply not an option for us. In fact, it would detract more from the film than aid it.
All the donations will go towards making the film the most beautiful and compelling it can be.
Our goal of $5000 is what we need to shoot this project on 16mm film using the ARRI 416 camera. The same camera used to shoot professional features such as The Black Swan.
To be honest, we would really like to double that budget. This is because ideally we want to shoot this project on 35mm film, the industry standard for all major motion picture. We have the technology, including the Panavision Panaflex G2 film camera.
We would love, with your help, to far exceed our $5,000 goal. With the extra funding, we can put it towards 35mm film, more detailed production design, and a better quality finished product.
Each extra dollar donated enables us to return the favour with a higher quality finished film.
We are incredibly grateful for your consideration and donations. Please check out our website to keep updated with every step of production.
