About this project
UPDATE: With your help, The $5,000 stretch goal has been reached and I will be adding OUYA support!!
All of the stretch goals are based on what the community has requested.
$3500 (REACHED): Lobby Chat and Ship-to-Ship Hailing
Good communication between players is important in Quintet. The first stretch goal will include: text chat in the lobby and the ability to hail and voice chat another ship.
$5,000 (REACHED): OUYA support
Many of my backers have reached out to me about adding OUYA support. I'm excited to bring Quintet to this new indie friendly platform.
$7,500: New Ships and Scenarios
At this goal, I'll be able to purchase 3d models and other game assets needed to create new types of ships and new locations and scenarios for players.
UPDATE: To celebrate how well the Kickstarter is going, I've decided to make all of the scenarios in the game free to play for the duration of the Kickstarter. Enjoy! (look out for that space anomaly)
If you're like me, you've always wanted to sit in a big captain's chair and shout, "More power to the shields!" and "Fire the torpedoes!" Of course you want to someone to respond, "I'm giving her all she's got!"
I have too, and that is why I built Quintet.
You can play Quintet now!
Quintet is already up and running and is available for Windows, Mac, Web Browser (with plugin) and iOS devices such as iPhone and iPad. Quintet has a great old school scifi feel on a tablet, which is why I'm hoping you'll help support this project to bring Quintet to Android.

Up to 5 players can control one ship. There are also ships for single players and for two people as well. All of the different ships can all play with (or against) each other in the same mission. Windows, Mac, Linux, Web Browser and Tablet/Mobile users can all play together!
Quintet is a ton of fun when played in person with others. Invite friends over for a game night and live your scifi dream!
The Captain's role is to not only be a good leader, but a good communicator. Good communication will lead to a successful mission. If a crew member is getting out of line, the Captain can eject them, and when all else fails, there is always the self-destruct button.
Driving a ship through three dimensions is not for the weak of heart. Flying is not only about dodging asteroids and other ships. The Helm operator needs to get the ship in position so Tactical, Engineering and Science officers can do their jobs optimally.
Tactical controls the weapons. It's their job to lock on a target, fire and blow stuff up. Choose that right moment to unleash the most powerful cannon. Additionally, they can calibrate the beam frequency to penetrate enemy shields.
They may not get all the glory, but the Engineer is the one who actually gives more power to the shields. Additionally, they can hack an enemy to drop their shields, weapons or engines or boost an ally. The Engineer is the only person who can repair the ship's hull.
The Science officer is the ship's special effects guru. They can tractor beam (push or pull) a friend or foe. Teleport the ship into its weapons range or make a quick escape even through an asteroid. They can also scan an enemy ship to detect their hull strength and shield frequency.
Quintet is a lot of fun to play with your friends and I don't want anyone left out because they don't own a particular device. I developed Quintet using the Unity3D engine. Because of the multiplayer features, I need to purchase an Android Pro license so I can build for that platform.
The majority of the funds (after Kickstarter fees) will be spent on the Android Pro license for Unity3D ($1,500). The remainder will be spent on the rewards being offered.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my Kickstarter campaign. Making a game like this has been a dream of mine for a long time! Drop by the Quintet website to play the game and like the Facebook page to connect with other players.
Risks and challenges
Android devices come in many shapes and sizes. I can't possibly test on every device out there, so I'll be relying on feedback from the community on any compatibility issues. I have worked to minimize these risks by developing Quintet with different resolutions in mind.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
The game has a several scenarios you can play. The first group are included. The remainder require an upgrade of $1.99. Any Kickstarter backer of $10 and higher will get the upgraded account with all of the missions included.
Yes! Absolutely! I did not want to have anyone left out because of their preferred device. In the video I'm using an iPhone (as Captain), with Helm on a Macbook Air, Tactical on an iPad, Engineering on a PC Laptop and Science on a iPad Mini. We're all on the same ship.
Yes! You can have a big ship with little ships all playing together. Send those small fighters to take out some drones while your larger ship takes out the main objective.
I have a video of this fun, backer only ship. Check it out here:
