Here’s the down and dirty.
You can’t hide country. I often think the only words I know are “y’all” and “yeehaw”...but y’all already know that! We’re about to embark on a great adventure into the depths of country + western music. How much steel guitar can I weave into a song? THE MOST. How much twang is palatable in three minutes and 30 seconds? ALL OF IT. Thanks for joining me! It’s been a long time coming, but we all know that good things take time.
My self-titled EP came out around two years ago, almost three. It’s been so long! It was a major learning process and my friends and producers brought life to the songs I'd spent several years writing. Since then, I’ve been itching to record again, but the songs just haven’t been ready yet. I don’t want to put anything out until it feels right. Those first five tracks were a mix of funny songs and true stories. Surprisingly, the heavier songs landed with all of you way more than I anticipated. I’ve always relied on humor to get through to people, but turns out we also really want to hear the truth. I'm so grateful for where those songs have taken me - opening for Lee Ann Womack and Ellie Holcomb, a couple of cruises, music festivals, and so many more incredible opportunities.
These are true stories. You’re gonna laugh, maybe cry, and hopefully find yourself in each of them. Over the past few years, my co-writers and I have spent our time pushing for the best songs - how do we tell the truth in the most conversational and beautiful and genuine way? I really hope we did that, and soon you'll hear it for yourself. You've all been such an encouragement as you’ve watched me grow up on and off the stage the past few years. With each year of life comes stories, wisdom, jokes, and memories, and the new songs tell the stories of these years.
Follow the Money
If you're considering giving to the project, I want you to know exactly where the money is going. For an independent artist like myself, we have to fund our own recordings - that means paying for studio time, engineers, mixers, and musicians to play on the songs. All of that adds up quickly! Also, a portion of the money will go toward promotion and ordering physical copies of the music - hopefully on vinyl - so you can buy them online or at a show! I'm also contributing some of my own funds, so we're going in together on this. Check out each tier to see what rewards are available! I'm so excited to see some of you at house shows and to pass along personal notes through my favorite medium - handwritten cards. Get 'em while they're hot!
With all that said, I'm so grateful to be making music for a living. It's always been my dream, and I know without a doubt that it's my passion and my purpose - a path carved out for me by God. I want to thank each one of you for every show ticket, CD, poster, and t-shirt purchased. Your support has helped keep the dream alive and given myself and the band gas in the tank and hotels to sleep in as we bring the music to you. I'll never get over how special it is to have all of you in my corner!
Thank you for your patience. Thank you for your encouragement. Thank you for your friendship.
To country music and the people who love it,
Risks and challenges
The challenges of this project include assembling the engineering and recording team. It takes time and patience, and thankfully I already have a lot of that team in mind! Other challenges include getting your rewards out in time while maintaining a busy touring schedule. That's why I set December 2019 as the delivery date for each tier's perks, so know that I will stick to that plan!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
