About this project
****11/5/11 UPDATE: Holy Jeepers, Batman! We're at 96% of the goal!!! So close, but not there yet! Please pass this page on to your friends!!!***
****10/3/11 UPDATE: King Crimson's PAT MASTELOTTO will be joining the roster for this record!!!****
Maybe you've heard me play with Julie Slick...
Maybe you've seen me play with The Day Life...
Maybe you're one of my students...
Maybe you're one of my many wonderful friends...
Or, maybe you just google-searched "Carl Weathers" and were led horribly astray...
Regardless of how you know me, you may already know that I’ve played with close to 100 different bands as a "musical mercenary." Over the years I’ve been VERY fortunate to be surrounded by some incredibly talented musicians, but I’ve never made a full length album of my own songs… until now!
I already have a studio and a few world-touring friends lined up for the project, I just need your help to make my debut album a reality.
My goal is to raise $2,800 to cover recording costs, artwork, digital distribution, and the making of the physical CDs. Any additional funds will go toward making the album even better - more recording time, more attention to detail, narration by Morgan Freeman... Well, maybe not the Morgan Freeman part.
Through Kickstarter, I have packages available for wallets of all shapes and sizes- as low as $1 for a digital download or as high as $500 for a private concert and a gazillion goodies.
Please consider being a part of this project, even if just a few dollars. Every little bit helps, and everybody gets SOMETHING in return!
Thanks for your support!
Yes indeedy! I have a lot of students that come to me for the first time without ever touching an instrument. I'll show you the ropes so you can impress your friends.
Trust me... I don't expect you to be the next Eddie Van Halen, so I'll find a way to get you on the album. Even if it's just hand claps, cowbell, yelling an enthusiastic "YEEHAW!"... I'll make it work, don't worry. The package includes a 90-minute lesson so I'll show you all the tips and tricks you'll need to know. :-)
This is not only an opportunity to help me make a great record with some fantastic musical friends, but an opportunity to be an integral part of a young artist's career. I hope that you think the packages I'm offering are unique and fairly priced, and although I can't promise that the album will go triple platinum - I can promise it will be a ton of fun to make!
"HAIKU." Kinda like "MOOSE" or "PANTS."
Yep! If you order a package that includes playing on the album, you can have anyone you want to be the one on the album.
Please keep in mind that the 'Philadelphia region only' rule still applies to your child/spouse/etc. Your great aunt in Nepal may be a phenomenal beatboxer, but logistics would surely get in the way.
Like I said above, I'm very lucky to have some world-class musicians on speed dial... SO FAR here are a few of the artists that have agreed to be on the album (with their associated band in parentheses):
Pat Mastelotto (King Crimson, Mr. Mister)
Julie Slick (Adrian Belew Power Trio)
Eric Slick (Dr. Dog, Adrian Belew Power Trio)
Chuck Treece (The Roots, Billy Joel)
John Swana (Mingus Big Band, John Patitucci)
Steve Lawson (Michael Manring)
Mike Lorenz (Mike Lorenz Quartet, The Dirt Party)
ddb aka dirtydirtbaby (Drake, Cassidy)
Alex Markovitz (The Day Life)
Jason Oller (The Day Life)
Trevor Gordon-Hall (solo acoustic guitar/kalimbist)
I have a few other musicians that I'm going to bring into the project, but it's up to you to make this all come together!
