Win rounds with your favorite treasures, or tangle with other octopuses in this 10-15 minute game for families and kids everywhere!
This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Sat, December 1 2018 7:00 AM UTC +00:00.
Thousands of ships cross the seas every day. What happens when waters get rough and items fall overboard? Do they get fished up? Do they sink to the abyss? Or do little octopuses collect them and treasure the mysterious items they find?
Fallen Treasures is a quick-paced take on classic games like Hearts and Spades, filled with light strategy and maximum cuteness, where octopuses show off their favorite treasures found beneath the sea! 2-6 players take turns playing unique treasure cards to see who has the best items. Use an octopus to take all cards in a round, but if two or more octopuses go for the treasure, watch out for a tentacle tangle!
How To Play
Each player gets 3 octopus cards and 5-8 random treasure cards (based on # of players).
The starting player will choose a card to put down, then play passes to the left. Each round the starting player rotates. High number treasure cards win the round, but an Octopus is higher than all treasure cards.
If two or more players use Octopus cards, a tentacle tangle takes place! During a tangle, each player involved puts down a low number card, then draws off the top of the deck.
If the card you draw is higher than your starting card, you're still in. If the card drawn was lower, you're out, and your treasures are up for grabs!
You can press your luck and try for multiple treasures during the tangle, but you might lose everything if you aren’t careful.
If you're not feeling lucky, you can take the cards you've earned so far and leave the tangle, but the last player in gets all remaining treasure!
If all players who joined the tangle draw lower cards and go out, the player with the highest number who wasn't in the tangle takes them all!
The player with the most stars at the end of the game is the winner!
The basics of the game are easy to pick up and simple to teach, but as players understand the mechanics, additional strategy begins to emerge.
- Is it better to use a high number or a mid-range number with a low star count, especially when going first?
- If two players enter a tangle, a third player could swoop up all the treasures if both players go out from drawing lower cards.
- You only get 3 octopuses for 5-8 rounds of play, when is the best time to use them?

We designed some Bonus cards that could be played as either a 0 or 31 and planned on making them stretch goals if we funded. The problem with that was that we really liked them, and wanted all of our fans and backers to be able to enjoy them regardless, so we've decided to include them from day 1 and hope that everyone enjoys them!
Anyone who owns any of our games knows quality is one of our top priorities. We’re not changing anything here. Fallen Treasures will come in our custom heavy duty polypropylene plastic deck boxes which are not only incredibly durable, but look great. The cards will be printed on our 300gsm Black Core Poker Varnish top tier card stock to handle shuffling by even the roughest players!

Risks and challenges
This is our fourth time on Kickstarter, after having successfully funded BattleGoats, Take the Gold, and The Pirate's Flag previously thanks to fans and supporters worldwide. We've also done large scale printing with CardLords Tokens for the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game, so we know many of the hurdles that can come our way.
Printing and shipping time are roughly 4-6 weeks each, and we will be ready to submit to the printer shortly after the campaign ends. We are also giving ourselves a little buffer time to ensure we can get Fallen Treasures out to the players without any disappointments from delays. BattleGoats shipped to players almost a month early and Take the Gold shipped right on time. The Pirate's Flag is en route to backers right on time as well. We'd like to replicate that success once again.
We never discount that the unexpected can happen. We will do everything we can to minimize the possible risks, and should any issues or delays arise, we will notify backers immediately.
